this Christian family, regardless of how deserving, did not follow our laws.

Do you have a lot of personal experience with our "laws"?

Can you afford top a topnotch mouthpiece?

So you agree that the immigration laws of the United States are to be selectively applied???

The laws are quite obviously outrageously being selectively applied my conservative friend.

I did not equate this family with the 9/11 hijackers. I equated the way this family exploited the student visa program and the way tehe 9/11 hijackers exploited the student visa program.

Don't attempt to split hairs with me when your pants (panties?) are clearly around you ankles.

Did you even read the story that you posted? Or are you just familiar with the family through chruch and school and have blinders on to what they actually did?

The requirements for a Student Visa are here. Let's not cloud the issue with facts.

Like the fact that Mr. Jong knew enough about U.S. Immigration laws to figure out how to apply for a Student Visa, not once, but twice. Like the fact that the second time he applied for the Student Visa was because he was "homesick for the midwest." Like the fact that on a student visa, you are not allowed to work more than 20 hours a week. Like the fact that you must be a full time student enrolled in an accredited institution and making normal progress towards the stated degree in order to maintain your student visa status. Like the fact that Mr. Jung knew he was in violation of his visa. In his own words: "I knew I had a problem with immigration," he said. "I was confused. I thought I could get by. At the same time, I knew I had to clean up the mess I'd made."

The story doesn't say why Mrs. Jung was arrested and not Mr. Jung, since it was Mr. Jung who applied for the F-2 student visa that allowed him to bring his wife and child. Why was she arrested? What are the charges? Why wasn't Mr. Jung arrested as well? You have the personal angle to this story, what is the rest of it?

Why was she arrested?

What are the charges?

Why wasn't Mr. Jung arrested as well?

Bravo!

Quite excellent questions, all!

She's (he's) got it! As Professor Higgins would say. (I find it maddening that posters choose to post either ambiguous profiles or none at all!).

The only thing I can say with anything like certainty is that it would appear that Mr. Jung (or Mrs. Jung?) failed to
a) Get a decent lawyer, if any, or
b) failed to dot a bureaucratic "i" or cross a "t".

You have the personal angle to this story, what is the rest of it?

Our community is just as puzzled as you. Not the least of this insidious scheme is why has the Mrs. been shuffled between three prisons except for reasons of unexplained harassment.

I'm outa here for a while. Got to go to choir practice (Catholic, BTW, not Baptist like brother Jung).

If I'm not too tired, I'll be back to fight this important fight some more.

I'm too old and crotchety to argue this issue in a smooth, oily, ball-bearing way. I don't suffer fools gladly (and by default, I'm the judge of who the fools are).

Where the hell are those omnipresent evangelicals when you need 'em?

You attack me for voicing an honest opinion which differs from you own?

Looks like you don't really believe in honest discussion, so why are you here?

I changed my mind, send them to No. Korea, which IS Hell!

Now don't you feel so much better for having baited me?

Wow! Did not see that attack coming.

A quick read of your bio has relieved me of the sting of your rebuke! Obviously you are extremely advanced in years and have an enormous amount of idle time on your hands. You spend it poorly setting up questions, then attacking those who disagree with your opinions.

Sadly, the only thing more full of crap than you, is the Depend Diaper wrapped around your tired old ass!!!

Tough day at choir practice?

Great break at choir practice.

My most disappointing and sad day ever at FR.

It was only out of frustration with the forum in general that I even noticed you.
