Hitler preempted Lenin's plan by attacking the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941. The staggering defeats suffered by the Soviet army in the early stages of the war was due to the fact that Stalin had tom down many of the Soviet defense positions and had not equipped his armies facing Germany with strategic-defense plans. All of their plans were for offensive operations.

Sacking most of his experienced generals didn't help much either.

I don't know if Papa Joe was this smart - he was better at exploiting opportunity rather than creating it.

Who Started the Second World War? Liberal appeasement. Something that everyone knows doesn`t work except for liberals.

Who started the Second World War?

Japan's invasion of China in 1931 is as good a guess as any.

I would have thought that WWII began when Germany invaded Czechoslovakia on March 15, 1939. Certainly in hindsight it is apparent that Hitler had no intention of stopping there. Especially considering what he had done in Austria one year earlier.

Oh, they know it doesn't work, that's why they promote appeasement. You see, they believe America is too powerful and is standing in the way of their global socialist utopia. Liberals want us to be taken down.

For that matter, Archduke Ferdinand's assination could be considered the start of it. So what cause that? The terrorists in Croatia could be a start.

The second World War was a continuation of WW I. As the French undertook to starve the German population (several thousands died) that allowed the NAZI to take over.

The answer is the FRENCH started WW II.

I have always wondered why the UK and France declared war on Germany for the invasion of Poland and did not declare war on the USSR when they were in league with the Nazi and also invaded and murdered in Poland.
