With Republicans Like These, Who Needs Democrats?
The Covenant News ^ | 5/4/2005 | Chuck Baldwin

Sad to say, even a cursory review of this record reveals the fact that the Republican Party in Washington, D.C., has become little more than a carbon copy of the Democratic Party.

Phillips writes, "Sadly, the GOP's elected and appointed officials conform themselves almost without exception to that which Mr. Bush espouses, including:

If the GOP doesn't get it's act together fast they will loose voters to the Libertarians.

I sure hope so :-)

Nope.Spending and illegals could be the death of the GOP.

Not sure that spending is an issue. Even in a conservative forum like this, concern about government spending is rarely voiced. Now on the other hand, taxes ...

"Along with NPR increasing funding for the NEA."

8 billion extra for the NEA. Viagara for seniors driving Jaguars. Medical plan to bust all budgets. Encouraging illegals to come in by promising amnesty.
Yeah boy!! Real conservative.

"if the GOP doesn't get it's act together fast they will loose voters to the Libertarians. No WAY.

It is a real possibility. Right now, the GOP is run by fiscal liberal/social conservative politicians. This is out of step with most of the party, but the other option is the fully liberal democratic party.

The emerging power center in US politics are the fiscal conservative/social moderate groups such as the small "l" libertarians and the "South Park republicans". These groups vote GOP now, but as the party goes further to the left on fiscal matters and further to the right on social matters (morality police), the Libertarian party will look more attractive.

Hopefully these groups can convice the big "L" Libertarians to adopt realistic stances on national defense and border patrol. The party has it wrong now, but so does every other party.

Unfortuately, we are going to have to have power shift to the democrats to get the attention of the GOP. A lot of damage can be done in four years, but it is a short amount of time compared keeping the current incarnation of the GOP in power.

"as for Romney, he ain't half bad as he has to deal with an over 2/3rd's majority democrat and socially liberal taxachusetts legislature as Governor."

Living in MA, I tend to differ. He speaks up while in SC but does not lead the charge against the sodomites while in-state.

Furthermore, he appointed a very liberal Liet. Gov., Kerry-Healy, while stabbing a more conservative one, Rappaport, in the back.

great guy he is..

I would say that was a very wise decision.

Spending is probably not going to change tooooo much no matter who is in the majority - both Republicans and DemocRATs are addicted to getting reelected. They can say whatever they want during the election campaign, they change once they get in office. Who can blame them? It's a great gig. All kinds of perks for our elected servants.

I'm not critical of No Child... It is disgraceful that any child in the USA should graduate from elementary school, not to mention high school, not knowing how to read and add. The argument is whether the Feds should be in charge. Maybe, because IMHO, the inner cities where this travesty most often occurs are mostly democRAT machine cities, and someone needed to hold them accountable for their failing schools - the voters, indoctrinated democrats - certainly were not.

The borders and illegal aliens. A disgraceful situation, and I am more than annoyed that we can't defend our sovereign borders and contain immigration. No excuse for that.

CFR was and is absolutely shameful. Goes back to my point about Dems and Reps. getting into office, and securing their positions of power. Great gig if you can get it.

Enough. I can always find more to whine about later. LOL

"spending" ..???

With a $52 BILLION REDUCTION IN THE DEFICIT ..??

I think the illegal immigration issue needs to be correctly addressed. Even Arnold can see the writing on the wall.

Yup. Can you imagine what the frothing at the mouth would be like here had it been Clinton doing all this stuff? We'd be going nuts.

In other words the "Libertarian Party" should stop being "libertarian." Since the republicans are the only people with "realistic stances," all libertarians should now switch and become republicans in the new non-libertarian republican Libertarian Party.

Hmmm.... and you believe this?

Unfortunately, we don't have the time. How many nukes could be smuggled into the country in 4 years of Hitlery? How many cities are you willing to see wiped off the map?

You should, regardless. I used to get his newsletter, but it became more and more hateful against the President. Practically called him the anti-Christ.

Of course. But at least we're keeping them busy for now on their home ground. Bush has publicly stated that Iran will not be allowed to develop a nuke.

Hitlery would just pull back and count on the world being nice to us.
