Yeah, normally, but this was a packed crowd. If it landed in the middle of a large crowd, they would have absorbed the blast and shrapnel.

Not confirmed by our SS yet - but the Georgian intel said somebody threw a grenade - which was meant to go on the stage - but it hit a person and fell to the ground. A policeman picked it up and stopped it from going off. They never told our SS until the plane was in the air on the way home.
But .. I've just realized that just about the time this grenade thing was going on - I was brushing my teeth and I stopped all of a sudden because I felt impressed to pray Isaiah 54:17 - "No weapon formed against you shall proper". I said it over several time over the President. I just thought it was because he was going to be flying a long distance today to get home.
I'm sure there were a whole bunch of us who were impressed to do the same thing.
I'd suspect Putin and company.
If Putin pulled it off and was able to blame a local for it he could turn the US opinion against the breakaways and at the same time have a good excuse to go after them himself.
Putin acts friendly but I don't trust him a lick.

Alternately is it possible, if you are quick, to grab a live grenade thats been thrown and hold the handle down so it doesn't detonate ? Or is it once the pin is pulled and the handle released there's no turning back ?

You know, there's something about the "fake turkey" canard that just gives me the creeps! It is just so unhinged! Even if you came in late and had no data; (1) Why does it even matter if the turkey was fake? The soldiers all ate, didn't they? (2) Who has ever even seen a "fake turkey"? (3) Wouldn't it be much easier for the military to obtain a real one? There are lots of those! (4) Why fake it? What's the advantage?
Like I said, the whole concept is 100% unhinged. Whenever I see someone repeat that nonsense, I shudder to think what someone so insane is capable of.
Would it be possible to have a kevlar shrapnel-containment bag one could throw over a grenade to minimize the shrapnel dispersion? How much actual blast does a normal grenade have and how much of the energy is transfered to the shrapnel?
I guess it is "possible" for the sun to come up in the west in the morning.

Well, I'd have to move somewhere I could legally have a grenade, and pay oodles of money for the grenade plus tax, plus find a source of kevlar, etc.
But maybe someone who knows the physics involved can clue me in on the expanded volume of the explosives in a typical grenade.

I see no one knows all the details yet. The Georgian People and Government were wonderful to our President so I have no problem with them.
I do have a problem with would be assassins and Leftist's that call for our President's assassination in this country. They speak of a civil war within the country now? Our President is harmed or his family in any way and they'll live to regret every second of the rest of their pathetic tortured soulless lives. And the assassin? He or she better not be looking forward to a cozy cell next to Saddam's. His fate is a luxury vacation compared to what would meet any assassin or conspirators against our president.
Thank God. Thank Jesus Christ our President and First Lady were not harmed. Nor was any innocent in the crowd.
