Shouting "Koran Desecration" in a crowded Theater

Dear FoxNews Watch:

Newsweek's "apology" says that its information about flushing a Quran down a toilet came from "a knowledgeable U.S. government source." This is no different thatn shouting "fire" in a crowded theater resulting 16 dead and hundreds wounded. A government employee unnamed source, (knowingly or otherwise) spread anti-american proganda that resulted directly in numerous deaths and hospitalizations.

We should investigate to see if any laws were broken, and, at the very least, his/her identity should be revealed so neither the media nor the American troops ever trust this person again.

I think the mullahs that incited this event should be hung! Newsweek has been printing lies for a long time and you don't see people dying over what they print. But when it comes to muslims? Newsweek circulation has been declining for years due to their leftist leanings, this will expedite their obsolesence.

You can not arrest "a knowledgeable U.S. government source" if none exist. Katie Couric uses this same knowledgeable U.S. government source but she knows him as "some", as in "Some say that..."

I wonder if legalities are the reason behind Newsweak's tepid apology without a retraction. If they can maintain that they reasonably believed the "facts", then they can avoid culpability.

In the book Journalistic Fraud, the author takes an entire chapter and shows how you can use turns of phrases such as "some, unnamed sources" and such to support just about any position you would want to, even/especially if the article is made up.

I have shared your sentiments all along. Yes, Newsweakling is full of crap and lies but it is these idiot muslims who are so unstable whacked out that they kill each other. They are responsible for their own actions.

I am not defending Newsweakling's anti-American propaganda, I think it's despicable. However, they are not responsible for the riots and killings. The rioting, killer Muslimes are responsible for that.

BUT if you manufacture a defective car and it kills people, you are liable for that. If it isn't simple negligence but something worse (say you knew it was defective but it was cheaper to make) you are criminally liable as well. Newsweek put out a story without adequately checking the facts. The story was defective and people got killed. Sue them and prosecute them, let's hold Newsweek to the same standards they hold all the "evil corporations" to.

Let's put it this way ... if Newsweek published a statement theat the muzzies flushed a Bible down a toilet, would there be rioting and murders here?  Of course not.

The author of this bogus story was Michael Isikoff, in collaboration with another Newsweek writer John Barry. Isikoff, if you remember, was the guy who first had the Monica Lewinsky story ... but Newsweek judged the story to slanderous and "Drudge" ended up soon after breaking the story. Interesting how Newsweek was so smug & self righteous when it came to sparing Clinton embarrassment (at least for a short period of time) but has no qualms whatsoever in publishing this bogus inflammatory article about the Koran.
