Just returned from the protest and after-protest hash and rehash. Attending: Doctor Raoul, firebrand, TFine80, davide, and Don (not a freeper). We stood outside the Broadway entrance from 4:45 to about 6:30, holding our signs and shouting our heads off: "Don't buy Newsweek," "Newsweek Lied, People Died," "Flush Newsweek," "Newsweek Lies to America," etc. The signs said pretty much the same, along with "There Are Lies, Damn Lies, and Homicidal 'Reporting,'" "Former Newsweek Reporter Will Lie for Food," and TFine80's sign, which said something like "And you wonder why they hate us!" Many people stopped to chat. There were the usual Manhattan liberals (one of them was ready to sue davide for false advertising or something because she wasn't really a former Newsweek reporter), but a surprising number of positive responses. A Marine stopped by to find out more about it, and confirmed that rumors quickly go out of control in the Middle East, as this one did. Doctor Raoul had called Fox News and the New York Post, and a photographer from Polaris Images took quite a few good shots of our signs and us. He had come by just to get a picture of the Newsweek marquee and hadn't expected to see protesters there. If this story continues, there may be other protests, so stay tuned. BIG, BIG thank-you to all who went out of their way to attend on such short notice, and to StarFan for putting up the excellent announcement thread.
MOST EXCELLENT BTTT!
Good job guys!
"[A]photographer from Polaris Images took quite a few good shots of our signs and us. He had come by just to get a picture of the Newsweek marquee and hadn't expected to see protesters there."
That's great! Those pix might get out somewhere, if the guy was going just to shoot the facade.
So sorry I couldn't join you all.
Good job! As always!
Great job, bttt.
You take the "Citizens, Not Spectators" Award for the day!
Eagles Up!

No time to even ping the chapter ahead of time, but here's a ping for the After-Action Report.
Mark Twain was ahead of his time. He had no idea how bad it could get. The statistics mean those who died for those lies.
Keep the pressure on!!
Great job!
Great job , great FReeping !!!
Good Stuff!
Thank you folks. That particular group of Socialist Bedwetters will probably have to change the sheets *twice* tonight thanks to your efforts!
Way to go guys! Outstanding job!
BTW, what kind of a retractions starts off by saying: "We regret that we got any part of our story wrong, and extend our sympathies to victims of the violence and to the U.S. soldiers caught in its midst.
As I mentioned on TFine80's thread, isn't this interesting timing for the retraction? It's nice to think you made a difference, anyway.
Thank you all for representing us in the Newsweek protest.
This story is NOT going away, so maybe you should plan a few more protests.
It made me sick how everyone--even on FOX--were falling all over themselves to say what an "ethical" and "wonderful" and "meticulous" reporter Isikoff is. The whole Britt Hume panel. These media people stick together like glue.
Isikoff is a traitor. He knew exactly what he was doing when he fabricated the Koran story.
We were thinking of Saturday for a further protest if there seems to be a need (i.e., Isikoff is not dressed in red, asking people if they want the meal at McDonald's).
Great job, guys - thanks for doing the grunt work! (If you pissed off some Manhattan limousine liberals - that would be a bonus!)
What is uncanny is that the first official retraction came about (5:00) and then was later updated (6:30) as we were there.
You have to think that they knew that there were protesters coming or already outside and this affected their behavior, if only a little itty-bit.
The last thing we American's want to do is to offend our Muslim friends.
Hi Boazo...great pic! You have captured the essence of Easyoff.
You are my hero!
Did you convince Don to join us here at FR? :-)
He knows he's welcome but is not joined at the hip to a computer the way most of us are.
Where was the retraction? Buried back near the obits?
Nicest thing anybody ever called me.
Because it is.
Just missed it, I biked by close to 7 and looked around but didn't see you. I even had my 10 out 10 Terroroists agree ABB shirt on today
Should have called me. We were at the Brooklyn Diner.
how about complaining to these stations that run "Newsweek On Air"?

If it wasn't for you fantastic FReepers, there would be no one to picket the leftists. Thanks for a job well done.
Now where are the pictures?
Next time you picket them, give them a few choice words for me. I think you know what to say.
All the Best.
OH MY GOD, a liberal who doesn't understand "nuance".
Actually, considering that there's supposed to be TONS of liberals, we got few negative comments.
Good job guys. Sounds like I missed all the fun!

Another noted that "Comedy Central" also had offices in the same building.
Another worked for Newsweek and blamed only the editor who allowed the story to be published based on just one anonymous source.

Oh fer cryin' out loud...
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
I'm bored,I needed to attack somebody! If I didn't live on the other side of the country I would be joining this group.
No better target than Isikoff and his lurid tale of Quran Abuse!
Good for all of you! Keep the pressure on them--
