COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) Three people were found slain in a home, and an Amber Alert was issued Tuesday for two children who live there, authorities said.
The dead were a woman believed to be the missing children's mother, a teenager believed to be children's older brother and an unidentified adult male, sheriffs Capt. Ben Wolfinger said.
Authorities were called about 6:15 p.m. Monday by a neighbor who reported ``suspicious circumstances'' at the house on a bay of Lake Coeur d'Alene, Wolfinger said.
The bodies bore obvious signs of injury, but the cause of death remained undetermined, he said. ``They're treating it as an obvious homicide,'' Wolfinger said.
An Amber Alert was issued for 8-year-old Shasta Groene and her 9-year-old brother, Dillon Groene. The children live at the house with their mother, the sheriffs office said.
Wolfinger said the mother and father of the children are divorced. Investigators have talked with the father, and he is not considered a suspect or person of interest.

9-1-1 Operator: Hello, 9-1-1.
Caller: Yes, I would like to report "suspicious circumstances" at a house across the street.
9-1-1 Operator: Okay. I will send a car right over.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE tell me how you call and report "suspicious circumstances" going on. Would you use that language?

While I also hope that they can be found safely, I have to offer the observation that this forum is being drawn to these Missing Brides, Wives, Children, Dogs, Jackson-Porn, Sex Offendor (pick one) as surely as a low rated newscast switches to a helicopter footage of a lousy car chase.
There are circumstances where a poster has some connection or special insight or knowledge and that makes them more appropriate.
But, I fear we will soon have House Fires gaining interest and every dang local issue will be worthy of Breaking Hard or some similar inclusion.

I get "suspicious." But, I would say suspicious activities or actions. Not "circumstances." That is just weird.

I think "suspicious circumstances" is just a summary term the authorities use. More likely the call said "Something weird is going on over there, again!"

Or like, "I heard screaming and yelling and many gun shots."

In my area, either yelling OR gunshots would be fairly normal, but both together would be suspicious.

I don't think they're quoting the caller. I think they're quoting the police characterization of the call.

This is more than a local issue if an Amber Alert has been issued. Isn't that the point of the Amber Alert system?

The Police use phrases like that, so as not to divulge pertinent information they may not wish to be made public. Such as; the caller saw persons they could ID. It is very much the same as (from the article);
Investigators have talked with the father, and he is not considered a suspect or person of interest. You better believe he is a person of interest.

So what's going on with the Paula Abdul/American Idol scandal?

Just guessing:
Daddy shot his ex-wife, her boyfriend, and his step-son; while collecting his two kids from this crappy environment.
