Reid completely distorting the effect of the filibuster on the Civil Rights Legislation, and finishes by saying that it passed.

Well yes it did, long years after it should have, and no thanks the the democrats!!

The filibuster is like pouring coffee into the saucer to cool it. A reference he makes about a conversations that Washington and Jefferson had regarding how the different branches of gov't cool the others off when needed. Checks and balances. Hes sooooo clever.

The fil-a-buster is like a box of choc-o-lates . . . /gump

Reid is quietly hilarious with his complete ineptitude.

What????? Who said that and in what context???

BTW:

Schumer:

When we knock out Justice Brown, I believe the Founding Fathers will be smiling upon us. One of them might say to the other: That is why we gave the Senate some power to block the President's nominees. This is the kind of nominee who should be knocked out. This is the kind of role the Senate, as the cooling saucer, should play, and whether it be by filibuster or by not bringing her up for a vote, or by defeating her in committee, which are the various ways the Senate has to be the cooling saucer, none of them-51-49, none of them simple majority, the Senate will be fulfilling its hallowed, ancient, and continuing role as a check on abuse of power of the President.

So far, saucer included, everything the dems have said are stale repeats of their gorilla stomping soundbites.

Is this all they've got?

I don't want us to under-estimate their anger and vengence, but so far, they seem almost benign.

They took a vote to evidence the Judicial nominees had majority support.

The complication is that the Dems have exercised a rule that calls for 60 senators to be able to block action on a vote or piece of legislation. The vote proved a point, but so long as that rule exists it is meaningless.

Thanks for the info. So then 76% of Californians voted to retain JRB, right? Still impressive.

Kinda scary that all the cables are showing this. This tells me they expect the demos to come out on top or at least get the demos best shots to hit the airwaves.

"Now that Gonzales is a member of Bush's cabinet he's supporting Owen for the appeals court despite their past disagreements. "

Good analysis on this.

"disturbing pattern of behavior" is how Reid defines Frist's leadership.

NASTY! Getting down it it now.

The Civil Rights fillibuster??? Is the man totally insane? Perhaps Senator Frist can ask Senator Byrd if he regrets fillibustering that legislation.

There was a great lady on with Scarborough last night. She just kept telling the Dem guy, "You don't get to rule the Senate; you're in the minority."

This is part of a disturbing pattern of this White House. Americans kept in the dark over energy policy. Always favors the corporate interest. I guess we're going to hear every Pubbie sin of the past 5 years.
