Freedom of the Press, sometime in the recent past, became freedom to allow fifth columnists and the actual foreign enemy to operate freely and openly in my own country.
And we seem totally helpless to stop it. I will be eternally puzzled by that gross perversion of a simple ideal.
It defies all reason, logig and historical precedent.
Where it will lead is fascinating, no matter what the outcome.

I think most thinking people realize this. It doesn't mean that Newsweek didn't pour kerosene over the already smoldering fire. (And with them, it's always smoldering.)

Because way to many people don't understand that liberty isn't license.
It defies all reason, logig and historical precedent
That's not logical! :-)

While Newsweek messed up, its mistake doesn't warrant this response. There had been similar reports before that didn't see such a reaction. Considering the way so many Muslims treat each other and everyone else, this selective outrage is ridiculous. This is just an attempt to throw the entire Western world into another multicultural guilt trip.

I'm not giving Newsweak a pass just because our enemies are lunatics.
If we want to play down the traitorous acts of Newsweak by making the main focus the crazy Jihadists, we do so at our own risk. And, is it really news that the lunatic Jihadists would react this way?
Personally, I think the riots were always a minor part of this story. The fact that our MSM is so willing to undercut our war efforts, put more Americans and American troops at risk, and work so feverishly to tarnish our image at a time of war with their false reporting should be the main focus of this story. To ignore this just because our enemies are crazies is giving Newsweak a pass.
To: Valin
Newsweek and MSM have their agenda and are not helpful for sure. But the murderous fanatics would find to use something else as a trigger anyway. I would not let Newsweek off the hook, but we should not loose perspective either.
In my book: Newsweek - 20%; Jihadists - 80%

And everyone must remember that the Peaceful religion of Islam allows Muslims to kill infidels, those who help infidels and those who will not become believers.

The way to stop it is to stop calling it "bias", and to stop referring the them as MSM, they are DNC operatives, running a 24/7 political campaign.
It is way past time for the right to treat them as such.
Why would a US Senator or Congressman sit at a DNC table on Sunday's and be lectured to, and put on the defensive? Why would they answer questions from a DNC operative working for the NYT or WP?
They should be home talking to their public, door to door, and consistently having town hall meetings.
And we and those pols on the right should be doing opposition research on each "reporter", ie DNC opp, each producer, each CEO, who claims to be a run a "news" organization. A campaign to expose them for what they are is needed, the Dems would be nowhere without them.

Personally, I think the riots were always a minor part of this story. I disagree. I think the riots are THE story. When we talk about democracy in the Muslim world, we are likely to get something very bad. The war in in Iraq is going to end someday, for good or ill. But the dysfunctional mentality in the Muslim world is going to last well beyond the Iraq war.
Sorry, but I just can't get that upset at Newsweek. The media has been largely left wing for decades and has written worse things than this that did not see the response we are seeing now. I blame the Muslims 100%. Part of life is putting up with things we don't like to hear. As long as Muslims do not understand this, the world is in for tough times.

Similar to the claim that Sharon's visit to the Temple Mount was the cause of the Arab violence.
A claim repeated even today by the MSM.
To: beyond the sea
If they were planned already, and Newsweek got the 17 foot digital exam at the proctologists office, i.e. was the sucker, then that's not so bad. This may have tarnished America's reputation, but it also solidified (even more) the reputation of the fanatics as being barbarian vermin that need to be hunted down and slaughtered as any other vermin would be. They are like plague carrying rats.
If only the Sleeping Giant would wake up. I fear it will never happen.

Why don't we get concerned about the muzzies defacing bibles? Because we're more concerned with muzzies suppressing Christianity, murdering Christians, Jews, and Hindus, and destroying Synagogues, Churches, and Temples.
