7-Year-Old Suspected In Beating Death Of Baby Sister

TAMPA, Fla. -- In an attack that's rattled even veteran detectives, police in Florida said a 7-year-old boy has confessed to beating his baby sister to death.

Investigators said the boy was jealous of the attention the infant was getting and upset by her crying. They said the boy beat the baby with his fists, feet and a two-by-four.

The attack occurred in Tampa, while the boy was visiting his father.

Police said the father and his girlfriend were outside with neighbors when the boy came out and told them the baby was "bleeding." They said the seven-month-old had a bloody nose, and wasn't breathing. The parents rushed the baby to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A spokesman said detectives noted they'd never seen someone so young "show so much violence and so little remorse."

That's what I thought when I read those posts. I definitely don't want a 7 year old executed, and I wonder about the mental state of those who do.

If you would have come to me and told me this about my daughter, boy would she have got it, and apologized to you constantly!

I would have done the same thing. He even said to me, "it's an embarassment to have you as a neighbor!" and I'm thinking, "OK, isn't it your kid that's breaking our stuff?" I have a long fuse, but I was really pissed. It's a good thing my wife wasn't home...

Simple answer: Satan.

I bet he has boxes full of Pokemon, Digimon, and other role playing games and probably watches Harry Potter over and over again for entertainment. (Yep, I'm one of THOSE type).

It's my opinion that this recent surge in child violence is nothing more than a new avenue Satan has turned to in order to destroy. Unfortunately, parents now a days don't care. They give in to the "newest craze" to make their children popular or happy or whatever no matter the consequences.

I think we truly are witnessing a spiritual battle. May we all lean on the Lord for strength.

God Bless

My wife and I dated for five years

My hubby and I knew each other two weeks and got married. That was 33 years ago. It works for some people.

I just can't stand sensitive people! What a headstart
this kid has to being a professional 'victim'.

Something "nice" for the DU lurkers to get clamor over...Freepers wishing a death sentence being meted out to a 7 yr old.

That is why I kept asking my questions, hoping someone would catch on...the thing the libs keep screaming about is that the only children we want to live are the unborn, but once yer out..BAM! We want you dead, even at 7.

I believe it. Someone on here said once that Tampa was
a stronghold of the devil, and you see so much comming from that particular area. I hate that, because we
really want to retire near there.

I agree. What a sad state, even at seven.

Just making sure people didn't get confused. The other poster asked about children killing children 50 years ago, and you posted that chart (in the meantime, of course) with no disclaimer about it pertaining to adults killing children.

There are none so blind as they who will not see. You didn't give a definition, but I did. You don't have a definition, but I do. You can't hear me, can you?

So.... even though you think abortion is evil (as do I), its legality is justification for executing 7 year olds?

I do honor your position of defending these parents, I do not.

You need reading comprehension, too. I never said I defended the parents. What I dislike is people stating things as fact that are NOT mentioned in the article. ;)

Have a good day. :)

No, I do not think that the fact that abortion is legal makes it ok to execute a non-adult murderer. That was not my intended point. Laws should not be relative to each other. If they were, the changing of one law could nullify the law. What I am saying is that in some cases, for instance, such as this one, if it can be proven that he knew what he did, I say he should be put to death. Just my opinion. What difference does it make if he's 7 or 17? If the kid knows right from wrong, and violates that in such a manner, he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

I was a legal research specialist for the NCADP for almost five years. I have lengthy opinions on this matter however, I will save everyone the grief and state, facts proved, by statistics, capitol punishment is not a deterrent to murder, there has to be another answer. Like trying to prevent this from happening, in replace of finding a proper punishment when it does occur. Their are usually signs before someone does something out of anger like this, we should be more aware for one thing.....

Yes, probably. Although I can't say much about that as my own kiddo takes a stimulant during school. But I DO AGREE with you to an extent.

But after he got the 2X4 he went from being a bad kid who didn't know his own strength to an evil kid who meant to do serious harm.

I agree. At this point, he thinks about how he can inflict more harm. He developed a plan.

Found this stat.

According to FBI reports, 2,900 juveniles were arrested for murder in 1996. Sixty-one percent of those arrested for murder were not White. Although Black children make up only 15 percent of America's youth population, 46 percent of juveniles in correctional facilities are Black, according to a study by the U.S. Justice Department's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.

The new twist to this story is that murder is being committed by children whose feet can't touch the courtroom floor, who can't get into a PG-13 movie without an adult and who cant comprehend why, in many cases, they can't go home with their mommy after murdering someone else's child.

It doesn't say if the victims were other children, though.
