China trying to turn Australia into 'colony': defector [China imperialism alert!]
AFP ^ | 2005 Jun 15

SYDNEY (AFP) - China is using a vast network of spies in an attempt to turn Australia into a "political colony," a defector said, as it was revealed Beijing officials had been allowed to interrogate Chinese held in Australian detention centres.

Former Beijing University professor Yuan Hongbing, the fourth Chinese defector to surface in Australia in the past month, supported charges by a rebel Chinese diplomat that Beijing had an extensive network of agents in the country.

The agents are targeting Chinese dissidents and are also being used to influence political thought "to turn Australia into a political colony of China," Yuan told ABC radio.

"Political colony means the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) will use their ideology to influence Australia's politics and gradually to turn Australia to betray its fundamental principles of freedom and democracy," Yuan said through an interpretde.

And yes, they are a kleptrocracy but that is not inconsistent with being Marxist and in fact is a hallmark of it.

Exactly. As I tried to explain, all of the utopia stuff is for the useful idiots.

Remember in the run up to the war in iraq, someone released info that the chicoms wanted part of Australia. Felt they were entitled to it.

"What about the nuclear submarine that has went all the way down to Guam near the US naval base. That was a real challenge against the US Naval Force. Do you really believe the official announcements of China to say that it was a technical error of the submarine?"

Last time I recall, they didn't go anywhere near territorial water of Guam. International water is opened to any vessal.

I'll see if I can find it. This info came out about the same time as the President was rounding up allies for the WOT.

"MOst of the so called non-military industries are run by communist leaders or their children or relatives. The people benifiting from the economic growth are NOT the large majority of the Chinese people...I have been there with US firms and have seen it. The vast majority still live mostly in squalor. There is an effort by the leadership to get them into the cities, but that is so they can take better, more efficient avantage of their cheap labor."

You can argue that most of the people in the US aren't rich either. It depends on if you adjust for cost of livining standards.

Is this the image of a communist state?

China is an authoritarian state, Communist in name only. There are still a few "old guards" around, such as the hated Li Peng, but he has no real power now. You can say they're a dictatorship but to describe them as Communist in the traditional sense is simply incorrect.

As far as the expansionistic nature - I think this has more to do with what happened to China in the 1800's than what you'd like to believe. China was raped and pillaged by first, the Brits and French, then every other nation in Europe, then Russia, then Japan. I think most Chinese realized that closed door policy doesn't work and is going for a carrot + stick diplomacy from now on.

Although they have adjusted their economic model, and that is something I have stated over and over again...their ideology is still marxist in nature and they themselves, the ruling party and individuals, call themselves Communists.

When you have abject socialism in a marxist model on the domestic policy front (ie. personal freedoms), when you have a totalitarian government enforcing those policies-along with their new fascist economic model, when you have a government heirarchy that calls itself communistic, still preaching and teaching...and cotrolling the nation along those lines...and they do...then I would call it communist. You can call it whatever you want.

The bottom line is that the Red Chinese are a totalitarian government that is bent on abject control of their population, and hegonomy in the region. They are headed for (and preparing for) conflict with the only major power that can interfere with that, and that is US.

Interestingly enough, when I was over there last time, they are putting down digital cable services (they already have normal cable service but do not have these channels) in cities like Jinan (pretty small compared to Shanghai, only 4-5 million people) and with the cable services, they get Hong Kong news which typically openly criticizes Beijing and we saw quite a few commentors on this subject. I saw the same type of channels in Shanghai as well. They could easily remove the channel or the type of programming, but they don't. So either it's changing, or it's losing control or both.

Please do not underestimate our Aussie friends

Anybody who thinks that Australia can be colonised by a mere 1000 Chinese spies is totally ignorant of the Australians and Australia

In the first place, Astralia had the "WHITE AUSTRALIA" Policy until the 1990s

The majority of Aussies are instinctly suspicious of anybody who is NOT an Anglo-Saxon

Aussies will fight to the death to defend their ountry' independence an sovernity

let no one misunderstand

the Chicoms, and anybody who wants to colonize can dream and dream, and dream on.........

Re #34

Someday, when enough Chinese settle in Australia, China would call Australia "a renegade province of China."

with the unofficial "White Australia" still in the minds of the Govt, I don't realistically see the Chinese population growing above a certain "QUOTA"

somehow or other, if China tries the "renegade province" thing, --- all the Australan govt need to do is to build concentration camps or better still, just deport all the Chinese back to China, where they REALLY, REALLY belong, in their own MOTHERLAND, and with their own people

The famous Aussie saying, "two Wongs don't make a White" says it all

The Chinese imigrants DON'T really belong

As the White Australians would say " they should be taught their place" and be " put in their place"

Not so difficult to understand, I should think

Then PLAN would like to dispatch fleets to liberate Chinese compatriots, with Dongfeng-31 aimed at Canberra. That is their dream anyway.

Are you forgetting the USN 7th Fleet, plus the 8 carrier groups

The Chicom PLAN fleet going to Australia would be SITTING DUCKS,

but somehow I don't think that even the PLAN is suicidal enough to attempt anything so futile,as an invasion of Australia

There is ANZUS,(US-Australis-New Zealand) the mutual-defense pact of the Anglo-sphere world

An attack on one Anglo, is an attack on all Anglos

Let the Chicoms beware
