I understood him perfectly. He sees nothing special about tossing 6 million Jews into ovens.

The only regrets are by him for saying it.

Trent Lott's offhand remark at Strom Thurmond's 100th birthday cost him his leadership role.

This reprehensible piece of slime, Durbin, has said things that eclipse Lott's remark...and they were deliberate. His airtime on Al Jazeera should be shown to every American, especially those in Illinois. Let them see what this man has wrought on his own country and its soldiers, namely aid and comfort to the enemy.

Durbin should pay with his job.

P.S. The absence of this story in the so-called 'mainstream' media shows how little they've learned over the past year. More power to the blogs and talk radio in FORCING them to acknowledge and report it.

Newt was on Sean this afternoon. He really ripped him another one. I love it when these egotistical clowns drop another one.

Who got to him?

No one. He is using an old tactic:

Say something completely outrageous, disgusting, ignorant that will please the wacked out DeathoCrat base and then later apologize or make a statement that the remarks were misunderstood or taken out of context, or both.

Plus, if an 'apology' is given, it is not really an apology. Senators feel they are above us regular peeples and have no need to apologize for anything as they are never wrong. It is we, the peeples, who just do not understand the words that are coming out of their mouths.

They do this because historically the electorate has a very short memory and are, well ignorant (in the politicians eyes).

But now, with the advent of the Internet, statements like this can be found months or years later.

Durbin had said Thursday that he had never brought U.S. soldiers into the comparison in the first place, and that he was criticizing the approved interrogation methods described in an FBI memo obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.

Did it ever occur to Durbin to put his brain in gear before he put his mouth in motion? or.............

Did it ever occur to Durbin to check into the credibilty of the FBI memo writer? Obviously not. Too much trouble. Dems talking points must be adhered to.

Final comment:
You Democrats lost, get over it and try, try, just once to earn your money.

They hate us, they REALLY hate us. Can you imagine news without the internet? Life is good. At least we are trying to stop the traitors.

And he is so chicken that he releases a PRESS RELEASE on Friday night...so he doesn't have to face any press...

Remember that Army(?) guy that was in Baghdad last year, and fired his gun to the side and above terrorist's head, in order to get info that eventually was used to save some of his troops??

This guy was court-martialed and had has rank dropped so far, that he ended up leaving the military, even though he wanted to be a lifer...

I was FURIOUS about the way he was treated, so you can imagine how I feel about this...

BTW, for any TEXANS reading this thread, I just heard on the radio that Kay Bailey is going to run for the Senate again, instead of Governor of Texas...to which I say ya-hoo!!!

I think someone got to him, told him to issue a statement, and he complied on Friday night.

Durbin's remarks are functionally the same as the comments Trent Lott made during that Strom Thurmond tribute that resulted in him losing his Senate leadership position. The big exception is that while Lott's comments were made to honor a frail old man, Durbin's were designed to attack the President of the United States through the disparagement of the US military.

If the Democrats want to be anything other then hypocrits, they'll do what many Republicans did with Lott: stand up and demand that a leader of their own party step down.

While that may be the right and proper thing to do, my fervent hope is that they don't. Republicans need to be careful in playing this out: the goal should be to damage Durbin just enough to make him ineffective in his leadership position and an albatross hanging over the Democrat's neck when it comes to the gaining the support of the political center (the reason why the GOP was so smart to quickly get Lott to step down).

If the GOP plays this the right way the Democratic base will be spurred to come out and support Durbin ... putting the Democratic Party in the position of choosing between alienating centrists/independents/conservative Democrats or ticking off their base. Actually, since this seems to be how the whole Dean thing seems to be playing out, the GOP may be looking at a two-fer.

Senators shouldn't be demanding apologies, they should be censuring him.

"another rat non-apology apology"

The dick said he was sorry we took him wrong; he didn't say he was sorry for what he said. Even if he had issued a genuine apology, I would never accept it 'cuz he's both a rat and a commie pig.

Dick is counting on it being dropped due to the weekend cycle.

IT ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN DURBIN!!!

The MSM are not the ones covering your sedition. WE ARE. You have done NOTHING but repreatedly, even in this statement, made the same seditious comments that brought this on your head in the first place! The MSM does not control us and we want your resignation! Americans WILL here of what you did as they heard the Swiftees and there isn't a damn thing you can do to stop it!

Unless, perhaps, you can go back in time, not say what you did so that al-jazeera never loops it!

The greatest risk created to our soldiers via creating hostile intent toward Americans was done by Durbin this week when he proclaimed that Americans were treating terrorists in a manner consistent with Nazi Germany's treatment of Jews and the former USSR treatment of prisoners.

Clearly Durbin needs the sort of education that only comes from personal experience with respect to torture, for the things he identified as Nazi-like or Stalinist were less arduous than the daily hardships faced by US soldiers in combat zones.

Durbin needs to resign in disgrace or be recalled into civilian life...if not hung as a traitor to these United States.
