Hugh Hewitt just said, moments ago, that, according to his sources, Chief Justice William Renquist will announce his retirement on Monday, and that the President will announce his nominee on Tuesday.

From what I heard, the White House hasn't had anyone vetted. This leads me to think that it will be somone who has previously been vetted in the last few years. This list would include (but by no mean be exhaustive).....Roberts, McConnell, Gonzaelz, Olson. Sadly it would not include my favorite, Luttig, who was appointed last back in 1991.

[Don't let the Dems focus on one nominee. If they try to filibuster, nuke 'em.]

NUKIE THE PUKE'S! NUKE,NUKE,NUKE,NUKE,NUKE THE DEMS NOW!

"What" do "you" mean, "gratuitous punctuation"?

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Bush should nominate Clarence Thomas just to get the dems' panties in a wad, then withdraw him and nominate someone else. I'm not sure who. I just hope down the road Justice Janice Rogers Brown gets a shot.

"If this is true, all hell is going to break loose."

Let the fun begin!

The rats have feared this since GW announced that he would first run for president.

They did everything in both elections to defeat him and after each election.

This is their worse nightmare. Supreme Court Justices appointed by GW.

Let their nightmare begin! Breakout the popcorn and watch them go even more insane.

You wouldn't want to do a recess appointment for this position because it would expire at the end of the Congressional term. It's different for administration officials because they won't stay past 2008 at the latest anyway.

He said it twice while interviewing someone (missed the name) about possible nominees. It was in the last 15 minutes of the previous hour.

Anyone Bush nominates the Liberals will refer to as Hitler.

If Bush wants Thomas, nominate him. Let the Dems filibuster a black man to the highest position of the highest Court. Shades of his confirmation in the '90's. Then make it a double whammy by nominating Estrada as his replacement.

Instead, we have a few prime candidates that are truly anti-American.

What about Clarence Thomas?

Gop, Yes Ted would not make their heads explode however, but I got to admit I really like him. He is so unflappable on C-Span.

I agree and it saddens me. I think he is a great conservative thinker. He is just too much into the power of the fed.

I agree that Bork is too old. As long as the Justices are hanging around these days the idea is to appoint them as young as possible, so as to have a long-term impact.

Ken Starr. He should have been nominated instead of Souter.

"maybe Judge Janice Rogers Brown to the Supremes"

I sure hope not, I think much of the criticism that she is beholden to large corporate intersets is somewhat true. The only thing I really like about her is she makes the libs quiver

Yo, Mr. Sunshine, why not wait until he actually names the nominee before launching into nonstop bitching and moaning? Perhaps you're afraid that he'll submit a good nominee, thus robbing you of your chance to revel in victimology and the sackcloth and ashes routine? Gotta get it in while ya can...

Exactly right!

They aren't vetting because they don't want anybody to know who it is, unless it's already been done.
