I think it's unhealthy to watch any channel--even Fox--as long as some here seem to do. There are literally hundreds of other channels, at least on Dish Network. Almost any 24/hr news channel repeats itself every hour--over and over and over and over. Give it an hour, then give it up. Do something else.

****

Agreed. Too much news all the time is depressing...bad for your health.

I usually switch to some mindless comedy or see if TCM has any good old movies on. Or I put on a DVD or video from my collection. Or better yet, I turn off the tv and do something else.

Perhaps Father Paulus went to the ATM machine to get some quick cash to pay one or more persons to dispose of the body and keep mum.

It also sounds like some bad things may have gone on in the wee hours in the Paulus home or in the kid's adjacent apartment.......with the father involved before, during or after.......or maybe all three.

Gulp

well i am afraid you are just out of luck, bc there is plenty of interest and therefore the coverage will continue. guess we can't pick our news stories of choice : )

I can't stand Greta Van Sustern. Couldn't stand her when she was on CNN. She'd be nothing today if it weren't for the OJ trial.

Several Freepers tell me they like Nancy Grace. She's ok I guess, but I can't watch her for very long. Far too melodramatic at times. My advice to her would be to report, do the interviews, show maybe some concern, but please dispense with that relentless, overwrought handwringing. Kinda ruins it all for me.

Plus, there's this new-fangled invention, called a "book"--imagine that, words on paper, instead of a screen! ;)

My first guess when this story broke was that someone dumped her in the ocean. I still believe it. After all, isn't this near where Rep.Major Owens (D-NY) claims the sharks are still swimming around waiting for bodies?

I'm sure you've noticed that the missing and disabled people that we obsess about are all pretty young white women (or girls).
Where are the "diversity police" who insist on racial equality? Why aren't we upset about ugly Black men who have disappeared?
Who gets to pick the cause celebre?

I don't understand this group hysteria thing, either.

They ARE very tight lipped! Maybe cause they botched the case. But yeah, the money thing is strange. I know it's a gambling town with many casinos so I guess the dad could say he was withdrawing cash that late for the casinos or whatever , but he doesnt look like the type to gamble. The son does though. Its either that, or the'' party boat'' guy would not accept a check!

Exactly.

My best friend's parents, both in their 90's and with so much time on their hands, watch the Weather Channel constantly. My friend was just saying recently that she thinks her parents are losing their mental faculties. No wonder. Watching the Weather Channel for hours on end is frying their brains.

>>>I've never seen such a lack of information in a missing persons case.<<<<

This is a murder investigation ....our prosecutors and police in the US talk to news outlets far too easily and reveal facts that complicate investigations. The less the perps know about what the law knows the better.

I think the Aruba police are doing a fine job of keeping the potential perps in the dark about each others stories and using discrepancies to corner who is lying.

Some reports have said the son is pretty wild, and spent a lot of time in the casions--supposedly drives a fast car, even though in Aruba, he's too young to drive. I think it looks like his folks have covered for him for a long time--and thought they could cover for him this time. Almost did, too.

LOL--no kidding! I used to spend a lot of time watching TWC during hurricane season when we lived on the gulf coast (and I do mean ON it)--I wasn't sure which was worse, facing a terrible storm, or another hour of TWC.

"Casions" = "casinos."

Note to self: use the darned spell-check.

Apparently there's an area away from the tourist hotel strip that used to be where abbatoirs dumped their offal into the sea, now the gov't dumps stuff there to keep sharks local and away from the beaches IIRC.

Heheheh - when I think I'm OD'ing on Fox News, I switch to Food Network, HGTV, TLC, Discovery Channel, or QVC, HSN, or America's Store - much to Mr. Inspectorette's consternation ;-) However, he loves it when I watch Food Network!

Nothing wrong with having the Channel on to keep informed about upcoming weather. But here, I'm talking about two elderly folks in front of the tv set for hours on end, every day of the week, glued to the Weather Channel. Too much.

I disliked Greta during the OJ trial, I called her Greta van Satan, and swore I wouldn't watch her on Fox.

Well something got me to watch her once and soon I realized she is terrific. She is the most intelligent of all the Foxers and Foxettes. Her questions and comments are always clear and to the point. She's got Geraldo's guts without his histrionics.

So now I'm a fan of Greta, but not necessarily others on her show, some of whom seem to be leftovers from Saturday Night Live.

There's always something else to watch...or not watch at all.

Speaking of Food Network, someone in my aqua aerobics class got me into watching the Iron Chefs. Now that is a cool program.

This story get airtime because it is every parent's nightmare. If Fox were not reporting on this, I'm sure the boys would have gotten away with a coverup by blaming the two security guards. While I wish Fox didn't have to be so persistent, I am glad they are because if I were in the same position, with a missing daughter or son, I would be creating as big a stink and pray that the media take an interest because of two reasons - being in a foreign country and the suspects being well connected and rich. While you are sick of the news being focused on the search for one person - maybe you should look at it in the sense that finding the truth may prevent others from the same fate. If the father was complicent - then what does that say about his sense of fair play within Aruba's justice system - justice meted out to everyone except those who are entitled?
