While editorials across the nation agreed in chorus that at last, Terri Schiavo will rest in peace, the autopsy report declined such certainty:"It is the policy of this office that no case is ever closed and that all determinations are to be reconsidered upon receipt of credible, new information." Even if no new information surfaces, how Terri Schiavo was put to death is causing many Americans to confront their own death.
Pat Anderson, for a long time the attorney for Terri Schiavo's parents, said the day Terri died of dehydration as ordered by the courts and her husband: "Euthanasia in America now has a name and a face." Dr. Jon Thogmartin's autopsy report made clear that Terri Schiavo was not dying, let alone terminal. As Dr. Carl D'Angio wrote in a June 21 letter in the New York Times: "Her family loved what was left of her and asked only to be permitted to care for her at their own expense. My question is, who or what was better served by her passive execution by water deprivation than by the first alternative?"

Barf. One of the most disgusting sights-- pro-death (R)'s.
Terri's individual case was surely a states rights case and as such I will NOT voluntarily support the state of Florida. What was a federal case though is the federal condemnation of the Nazi tactic of ridding society of innocent, but undesirable citizens employed by the state of Florida.
This practice MUST be condemned and banned by the United States government regardless of what the individual states do.
Being a disabled person myself if this practice is allowed to spread then it is only a matter of time for me.
At what level of disability do you consider a person to have lost their right to life under the Constitution?
Now the critical factor is this: HE HAS A FEEDING TUBE! I didn't even notice it and was told only later.
I wonder how many people would say he should be killed like Terri Schindler (-schiavo) because of a feeding tube? That's no more a life-support system than a wheelchair is.
The 'door' has BEEN open for years.
NOTHING will get any better on this slippery slope UNTIL abortion is illegal again.
That is the elephant in the room!
Did you miss the implied sarcasm tag??
Your rememberer is REALLY vague, indeed!
(And wrong...)
...but I'm NOT the one that has the POWER to DO anything about these crimes.
What part of "life, liberty, pursuit of happines" don't the courts seem to understand?
Our Founders wanted all to clearly understand that none of these God-given (natural) rights could be taken away unless we did something specific to cause that loss and that that action was to be proven before a jury of our peers or due process of law. The fifth amendment makes it clear that even if we are accused of a crime we do not lose our basic rights. The proper implementation of habeaus corpus helps guarantee these rights, including the basic right to life, using the exact language which Jefferson originally used in the Declaration: "no person (an unborn baby is a person) shall... be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of the law."
The fourteenth amendment reiterates this basic principle: "nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law."
Can anyone tell us what crimes unborn children have committed for which they should lose their lives? Of course agruments which support abortion are pure nonsense and evil in nature.
This goes directly to the heart of Roe v. Wade and unequivocably proves that the Supreme Court made an unconstitutional decision. This is specifically why the pro-abortion folks do not want unborn children recognized as a "person."
Indivisible human rights. Cut one of us -- all bleed.
The snake was the first symbol of America. A symbol designed and published by Ben Franklin, for a snake -- being in parts it would die, all parts were needed all joined if any were to survive.
Likewise Moses was directed to make a copper snake on a pole in order to cure the Israelites of a plague that sweeping through the assembled tribes.

Please help the LIFE issue by calling the president at 202-456-1111, or e-mailing him at president@whitehouse.gov, and asking him to pick judicial nominees, like Scalia and Thomas as he promised in his campaigns. While the president is not perfect, so far, he has kept his campaign promises.
More on the judiciary. I received this via e-mail from frc.org:
Give 'Em War, Schumer Calls for Camp David Summit
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who last week called for war
on ANY nominee President Bush might appoint to the Supreme
Court, now wishes to negotiate at Camp David with the
President on picking a "consensus" judicial nominee.
Merriam-Webster Online defines consensus as the judgment
arrived at by most of those concerned. The U.S.
Constitution grants the sole power of nominating a Supreme
Court justice to the President and allows the Senate
(currently being controlled by the President's own party)
to then vote on that nominee. Any effort by the President
to include the Senate's minority party, the Democrats, is
done out of President Bush's goodwill.
Senator Schumer, in an op-ed published today in the New
York Daily News, cites President Bill Clinton nominee Ruth
Bader Ginsburg as an example of a "consensus candidate."
Justice Ginsburg had a long history of liberal activism
before joining the Supreme Court, including advocating for
the elimination of Mother's and Father's Day. Schumer's
words of last week, refusing to support any nominee put
forth by the President, belie any chatter this week about
"peace talks" and "consensus." This week FRC is airing
radio ads in selected markets calling for Senate Judiciary
Members Schumer and Ted Kennedy (D-MA) to recuse themselves
from Supreme Court nomination hearings. These Senators
have already polluted the process of judicial nominations -
they should not be allowed to run roughshod over the U.S.
Constitution.
It appears we need some group muscle to fight this slippery slope.
"A self described atheist and against the death penalty?"
Remember from our lengthy thread of last month, indeed atheists joined forces with us in support of Terri. They were horrified at the implications, too.

Michael Schiavo was never a pawn in the end game. He was the instigator. George Felos was a part of the end game but he was never the puppet master. Michael Schiavo remained the puppet master.
On the other hand if anyone is familiar with the hit movie Chicago, I can visualise George Felos in the starring lawyer role. He is just like the tap dancer in that movie. He and his cronies managed to do a lot of tap dancing as they pulled the strings of the MSM.
Michael Schiavo used the euthanasia movement to arrange the killing of his wife. The euthanasia movement, represented by Felos, Greer, Cranford and others used Terri Schiavo as their ticket to fame and a new legal nightmare.
