Do they sell items like that?

I remember coming across an unrelated book about the Church's martyrs throughout the centuries-recently released-in a Christian-themed book store a few years ago, when I was in downtown Brooklyn attending a video-opera composed by Steve Reich.

It was a bit of a morality play, structured around three distinct acts, each one portraying an irreversible scientific discovery-some that portended disaster-during the course of the 20th Century, culminating in the first genetic clone of a sheep, i.e. "Dolly."

Reich is a wonderful composer if you're a believer.

Even though he's an Orthodox Jew-I believe-people of any religious faith can glean some fascinating insight from his musical oeuvre, even though he may be a bit too dogmatic in impressing his opinions upon the audience at times.

Not at this point. They sell books, videos, and other educational materials, and a while back they were offering prints of a painting that had been done especially for them, for a substantial donation.

I suppose the Wurmbrands wouldn't want pictures of themselves on people's walls :-).

I met Pastor Wurmbrand once, more than thirty years ago. At a campus speaking appearance, he removed his shirt to show the scars, layered one over another over another on those portions of his body: stomach, chest, back and arms that would normally be covered. He said he received his wounds from nazis as well as communists. He had an aura of saintliness about him that was overpowering. He was a living saint. As Catholic as I am, I must nonetheless say that I have never been so overwhelmed by any of my Church's clergy as I was by this holy man of God. I had not noticed that he had gone to his reward in 2001. May he experience heaven's very richest rewards.

Thanks for the ping.

I believe one of the main reason America was blessed with so much abundance was so that the gospel could be preached to all the nations.

we need to consider what these foreign Christian ministers suffer as we play church on Sundays, and live as we want the rest of the week.

He was an outspoken anti-communist with the scars to prove it, a man raised Jewish who embraced Christianity with uncommon devotion, and a visionary whose life was dedicated to helping believers who suffer for their faith.

He was Richard Wurmbrand, founder of leading Christian-persecution organization The Voice of the Martyrs.

Founder of Voice of the Martyrs jailed, tortured by Communists for years

Richard WurmbrandWurmbrand began Voice of the Martyrs in 1967 after enduring years of imprisonment and torture at the hands of Communists in his native Romania.

In 1967, the Wurmbrands began Jesus to the Communist World, which later became The Voice of the Martyrs. The ministry's first monthly newsletter was published later that year. Richard also released "Tortured for Christ," the story of his persecution by his Communist captors.

"The Christians sustained me everywhere. I had no salary. I had no regular salary, but the Christians everywhere sustained me. In Romania the first question asked of a pastor or a priest of any denomination is: Has he been in prison? If he has been in prison he is all right. All the Christians sustain him."

What an incredible story. God bless him and his wife.

Great post. From Richard Wurmbrand, Marx & Satan (1986: 32-5)

"All active Satanists have ravaged personal lives, and this was the case with Marx... His dauther Laura buried three of her children. Then she and her husband committed suicide together. Another daughter Eleanor decided with her husband to do the same. She died and he backed out at the last minute... Marx was not on speaking terms with his mother. When she died he did not attend her funeral... Foul language abounds in his letters."

Wurmbrand pesonally experienced the death-wish to Satanists and we sadly see the same death-wish in the MSM and socialism.
