I grew up with kids down the street, whose father was Yugoslavian, and mom was German. We'd go visit down there all the time. It's a shame how the downtown areas are falling apart in San Pedro.

Wilmington is the worst.

Good evening.

We are in the early stages of building a house and HD has lost all of my business to local companies.

LMAOROTF! Just as I thought. The man will never quit extolling the virtues of indentured servitude!

father was Yugoslavian

Betcha his name ended with "ich"... We had lots of Slav and Italian kids at San Pedro High School, many were immigrants or kids of immigrants, and guess what? There were NO bilingual classes, and they ALL learned English within a couple of months by English immersion. Their parents learned English too. There were Japanese kids there too, and they also learned English quickly.

The current crop of illegal aliens from Mexico have problems learning English, and their parents have no intention of learning English, but they sure know where the welfare office is and what to ask for, and if they can have an anchor baby they collect even more.

Nope. Three pages of his "extolling the virtues" on a quick Google search:
The gigs up for this cardboard cutout:
He's a "farsante".

How terrible to see that businesses are hiring hard-working people instead of internet whiners! This is an outrage!

If businesses are knowingly hiring illegal aliens, then these businesses are violating federal immigration laws.

Then quit initiating childish games.

Your stupidity is only over shadowed by your ignorance. Congratulations!

Actually their last name was Grgas. Great bunch of people, and I have happy memories of hanging out with them.

True, but wherein is such an allegation stated regarding Home Depot? All I have seen are inferences and speculations. As usual with the irrational border-wedgies crying wolf at every wisp of the wind, this article is much ado about nothing.

If they were American Mexicans, they'd just be just plain Americans.

Wrote a letter to them on the day that you posted this. Basically said that I wouldn't be a customer any longer due to their racism, and included a link to the article. Got a response today....

"Dear (textide),

Thank you for contacting The Home Depot Customer Care.

Thank you for contacting The Home Depot. We sincerely appreciate hearing from all of our customers.

First and foremost, please know that The Home Depot supports legal immigration to the United States and does not support illegal immigration.

We believe that diversity is the catalyst for innovative thinking, entrepreneurial spirit and new ways of building our communities. The greater the diversity of our people, the greater our ability to serve our customers and communities.

The Home Depot is proud of the hiring partnership that has been formed with four of the country's leading national Hispanic organizations, and we will work with these organizations and their strong network of local offices and contacts to help recruit qualified candidates for full-time and part-time positions across the country. As a company that recognizes and appreciates the value that diversity brings to our company, The Home Depot expects this partnership to have a positive impact on communities.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.

You wrote:
What difference does it make whether the mechanic at the dealership who repaired my automobile was legal or not as long as they did a good job?

And you also wrote that you voted for President Bush, yadayadayada...so did I vote for Bush but I'm not going to go so far, as you have, and allege that Bush represents the "it doesn't matter whether someone is legal or not as long as they do a good job" foolishness. I realize that Bush has failures (we're all human, even Presidents), but the alternatives to not voting for Bush for the Presidency were extreme and many of us conservatives opted to support the GOP and stay the course afterward (and still are). But the issue of illegal aliens in the U.S. and the preposterously irrational "guest worker" proposals do not measure up to those like you who suggest that it makes no difference whether someone in the U.S. "is legal...or not" and then suggests that's some Bush/GOP Party affiliation, as you do by your preposterous allusion there. Many of us can and do disagree with Bush's position on the issue of illegal aliens in our country and we'll continue on as Republicans for the record, but, it does not mean that the GOP can arbitrarily rely on continued voter support if this issue remains so unremedied as it is now, and not only that, it continues to receive amelioration if not enrichment by some, like you, who say they vote as a Republican and yet have no care as to illegality of workers or not. And, whatever you write in response to this, I'm not responding to whatever is written afterward because -- to others on this thread -- bayourod will continue to run the conversation down into more 'bayourod-based' issue discussion...best to just NOT RESPOND, regardless of the bait.

If they are not checking that they are legal citizens, they would be breaking the law as employers.
