Downing Street Memos: Democratic Hysteria

Posted on 07/26/2005 4:58:23 AM PDT by bjc

It is truly amazing how fast this story disappeared. Like a weatherman's forecast and an economist's dire prediction, the Downing Street Memos seem to have completely disappeared. Has anyone seen a retraction from the bile spewers and chicken littles?

It's only vanished because their simple little minds can only grasp one major scandal at a time and they all have their brains gleefully wrapped around the manufactured Rove scandal right now.

The DUmmies have slowly let it slip away. But now they have the Robert's SCOTUS nomination. They simply move from one mindless rant to the next.

A more important story concerning the impeachment of Karl Rove for something that is not a crime and for something we don't even know what was done or who did anything came up. This is hugh, call Waxman.

CNN poll 07/21/2005: "Do you think the U.S. Senate should or should not confirm Roberts' nomination to the Supreme Court?"

Should 59% Should Not 23% Unsure 17%

Mindless rant is correct.

Even if it were a crime, Karl Rove couldn't be impeached but the lunatics on the left are to ignorant to know this

I heard it mentioned last night on Scarborough by the wife of the artist who painted the flag in the toilet bowl picture which proudly hangs in Lockyer's office building in CA.

Ummmmm...probably because it was Rathergate redux.

Smith told AP he protected the identity of the source he had obtained the documents from by typing copies of them on plain paper and destroying the originals.

Source

Upon receipt of the document in question in September 2004, Smith alleged that a Telegraph desk secretary typed it in old fashioned typewriter and then Telegraph “destroyed” their copies of the original to frustrate any future police investigation of the leak.

Source

They just wanted to put doubt in people's minds about Bush. Now that they have accomplished that, they don't want anyone investigating too closely, the Dems have apparently told the media to back off this story.

Here in Upstate NY we have a delusional Congressman, Maurice Hinchey, still using it to hold "town meetings" where the tin foil hat brigade meets. He recently charged Karl Rove with leaking the Dan Rather documents.

Faithfully, two or three times a week, the readers of our local paper and its Bush-hating columnists bring it up. The paper has never printed the contents because, toward the bottom, you would see planners were worried about WMD use. This completely undercuts the Left's interpretation of "fixed". They think in terms of elections where fixed means rigged. In the real world it can also mean "made stationary".

The Left probably realized they had gotten all the traction they could out of a reporter's "trust me" version of a Brit's impression of America's positions, prior to a meeting. The documents aren't authentic, their contents unverifiable, and their relevance questionable. Can anyone prove this individual's interpretations are more valid than anyone else's?.

The moonbats are still pushing it like it is bigger than watergate. Everyday I see a letter to the editor in several newspapers talking about the DSM.

They just won't let go of it.

Karl Rove is a force that can not be stopped. Cronkite believes that Rove called up Bin Laden and had him make that Kerry endorsement video prior to the election.

The looney left just gets crazier and crazier the longer they are out of power.

I would suggest anyone interested read Ret. Gen. Tommy Franks' new book "American Soldier" - which sould be available at public libraries by now.

1. The original plan to invade Iraq was drawn up in 1999 when (Class -Do you know who ?)was President.

2. Degradation of Iraq's air defenses began in early-to-mid 2000, when (Class ?) was President.

3. On 11/21/01, Sec. Def. Rumsfield ordered a review and update of the Iraqi Oplan. (Oh-oh ! That (sob !) hateful Bush was in office !)

4. There were excellent reasons for the update.

5. There was and still is reason to believe WMDs WERE present in Iraq.( Oh-0h !)

I could go on, but Tommy Franks did a MUCH more comprehensive job !

My views entirely. But I was hoping that there may be a lesson in how to defuse the rantings of the uninformed by looking at the the death of the DSM. However, you indicate that the story is still alive in certain places.

If so, the challenge is to make sure that DSM do not become urban legends as in "the DSM proved that Bush falsfied intelligence to get us into the war."

I fear we need to turn a Dem spinner in order to nail this one.
