A Republican president can often enact a more liberal agenda than a Democrat could because many Republicans in Congress are more loyal to party than to principle.

Over the past few generations, congressional Democrats could customarily be relied upon to promote a liberal agenda while their Republican counterparts developed the reputation of being stalwart opponents of our nation's slide into big government and internationalism. The record shows, however, that during the past 50 years, congressional Republicans have exhibited such opposition only when....

In the first four years of the Bush administration, the Republicans did increase government spending at the fastest rate since the Lyndon Johnson administration. Bush did give us the largest expansion of Medicare since it originated with the Medicare prescription drug plan. Absolutely nothing is being done about illegal immigration.

This massive Bush support from Republican voters removes the opportunity for a real conservative Republican to be President.

The definition of the term 'real conservative' is quite subjective.

Those who try to claim to be the 'real conservatives' should remember that a President is President to all people, not just those who call themselves 'true conservatives.'

The political feelings of people in this country fall across a wide spectrum. A President that satisfied those who call themselves 'true conservatives' would not be serving about 75% of the country.

So which republican president created a one TRILLION dollar prescription drug benefit for Seniors that was defeated under the Clinton administration ?which republican president said all states should have the right to create their own medical marijuana laws when he was running for the job then ordered his administration to fight the states marijuana laws all the way to the supreme court and got the 10 amendment eliminated for all practical purposes forever?which republican president took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution and the signed campaign finance reform which that took away almost all speech rights?Which republican president is lifting entire paragraphs from George Orwell's 1984 and turning them into federal law?Which republican president created the no child left behind act that gave godlike powers to the federal nea over local school districts that everyone agrees is doomed to failure?Which republican let Ted the swimmer Kennedy write the education bill?

speaking of schools.Which republican president who has lots of friends running pharmaceutical companys just made it mandatory for every schoolchild from preschool to senior in high school to have a mental health screening every year and if found to have any mental health problems based on the diagnoses of a school shrink that is so lousy that cant get into private practice but have to take a school district job will be forced to take whatever drug (ie riddillin, thorazine, prozac)the shrinks puts them on?Oh yeah and if you cant afford it no problem the tax payers will pay it for you every month.

One last thing rember the keto ruling that said private property rights are a figment of your imagination and that the government owns all property and can take your house from you anytime a big business owner want its 3 of the 5 supreme court "justices" that ruled that way were appointed by republicans.

Clinto had nothing to do with the economic boom which ultimately ran out of gas and placed us in a temperory recession. The dot.coms helped with that. Business eventually went under from the dot.com boom.

I know the article is rubbish and Clinton had little to do with the '90s boom, but Liberals always try to make that argument. So if you take them on that basis, then aside from the '90s under Clinton, Republican administrations have better performing economies during their term since the data started being kept.
