Vanity: Letter from Frist; RE: Terri Schiavo

Senator Bill Frist responded to my letter concerning Terri Schiavo.

________________________________________________

“Thank you for contacting me with your thoughts about Terri Schiavo. It is an honor to serve you as Majority Leader of the United States Senate, and it is a privilege to respond to your concerns.

“There is no more sacred virtue on our society than the need to preserve and protect human life. In Terri Schiavo’s unique and tragic case, her life was at stake, and her end-of-life wishes were in dispute. And medical experts were split on her medical condition.. I suggested the courts solicit additional tests an attempt to reach a medical consensus on her condition. I also recommended current and complete neurological examinations which she did not have, using the most up-to-date medical technologies.

“Congress passed a bill that allowed a federal court to take a fresh look at her case. The fact that the bill passed unanimously in the Senate and with bipartisan support in the House suggests that members of both political parties agreed that the courts should have at least considered additional medical evidence in her case. I am extremely disappointed in the federal rulings in this case, and I am deeply saddened by her death. Using the most advanced medical technology to perform an autopsy. Medical examiners have concluded Terri Schiavo suffered from irreversible brain damage at the time of her death. We must respect her memory.”

Sincerely,

William H. Frist
Majority Leader
United States Senate

At least they are making it easier for us to pick out the RINOS when they write replies like that. Did he mention robbery of her rehab afunds, torture, starvation-dehydration or murder? I don't think so.

That's what really happened. No real republican would have let this happen.

Judge Greer denied testing. Greer didn't want it to get out that she was really quite responsive. There were so many laws-felonies violated for years, but he got a pass because of Mel Sembler, Mr. GOP.

Terri has touched the lives of millions of people throughout the entire world. For a woman who was unable to speak or permitted to appear publicly for more than a third of her short life, she had the most profound effect on people all over the world...

Terri's plight opened serious discussions and debates involving closed head injury, the disabled, cerebral vascular accidents, definitions of life support, the eugenics movement, and the exposure of special interest groups such as the bioethicists.

Terri's life will never be held in vain for she has forever influenced the world view of the disabled and the importance of our responsibilities to those who are vulnerable. She has brought recognition to the life's work of physicians, nurses, researchers, and lawmakers who have made tremendous contributions in their areas of expertise.

Thank you Theresa Marie Schindler for opening our eyes to the meaning of life.

Or will you, Senator, really MEAN IT if you subpoena me on a DIFFERENT issue, and hold me in contempt if I ridicule the subpoena before the press and refuse to comply?

While contempt of Congress is serious enough, it was the obstruction of the congressional investigation that's a felony. I thought at the time that such a clearly criminal case as Judge Greer's outrageous behavior would have been prosecuted, but it appears that our judiciary can ignore just about any laws, even to the extent of personally indulging in blatantly criminal behavior.

I find it interesting just how few judges have even been impeached over the last few years compared to the early years of the republic. From the Federal Judicial Center's webpage at http://air.fjc.gov/history/topics/topics_ji_bdy.html :

Most of us Tennesseans discovered a long time ago that Frist is a typical wolf in sheep's clothing Republican. Frist has been in the pocket of big medicine for a long time.

"It may be a signal that the religious right can take nothing for granted as they look to 2008," said Wittmann, now a political analyst at the Democratic Leadership Council. "His apostasy may presage a real fight within the Republican Party in 2008."

She is correct. The Pubbies are creating another "Perot Moment."

Stupid Party on parade.

To quote Elvis, what we needed was "A little less conversation and a little more action..."

The failure of the Congress, AND the executive branches of government in Tallahassee Florida *and* at the federal level (I mean the White House and the President) to stand up to the obscene power grab that resulted from the judicial homicide committed by renegade rogue judges, will haunt us until there is (hopefully) a Second American Revolution in which our original Constitution is restored, and our Republic is re-established.

Be not fooled, we are not ruled by our elected officials, our fates are in the hands of black robed dictators who answer to NO-ONE.

This is not flogging the dead horse because the actions of Frist are important in understanding the manner in which some politicians saw an opportunity to grandstand but when it came to doing the hard work in the face of ignorant opposition they failed miserably.

I do not understand why your Congress felt as if they were not compelled to follow up on the contempt that Greer held for the subpoenas that were issued. A congress with balls should have been able to come down hard on a weasel who is nothing more than a two bit probate judge who is of very doubtful morality.

There are several issues that require answers. It is not just about Theresa Schindler either. For example, this news item about the Frist family and an abortion hosptial is quite disturbing. It shows what can only be considered as an hypocritical stance on these issues.

It is also important from the point of view of Frist coming out in favour of the failed embryonic stem cell research. The stem cells are coming from aborted fetuses and that means that the abortion mills see that there is advantage to pushing for the continuation of research that so far has come up empty and has produced tumours but not cures. How much money do these places get for various baby body parts? The trade in the stem cells of aborted fetuses is probably quite lucrative.

It was not even Frist who was doing the majority of the pushing in trying to save Terri. There was another Congressman who is the one who was serious. His name was Weldon(?) or something to that effect. He is the one who was doing most of the pushing.

With regard to the comment about the autopsy. Well, DUH we know that she had irreversible brain damage. That is why she was MCS (not PVS or comatose). That was not the issue either. If Frist had read the report properly then he should have been able to make the comment that the dead cells in Terri's brain were being replaced by other cells, and that with proper therapy Terri could have improved as these brain cells took over.

What happened to Terri had to do with the neglect that she suffered after the malpractice lawsuit. Her brain was allowed to continue to deteriorate because of the lack of stimulation.
