I wanted to reach out to you about an issue you'll be hearing a lot about in the days and months ahead...the security of our borders.
We are facing a crisis.
Over 7,000 miles of land span our borders; 330 million non-citizens flow through those borders every year...an alarming number of them illegally.
Make no mistake, most of the people crossing our borders illegally do so for one simple reason:
They are coming to America in search of opportunity and prosperity and a better life.
That's why they risk their lives...and, sadly, some even lose their lives to get here.
Hundreds of illegal immigrants died last year in the deserts and mountains that separate the United States from Mexico.
Now more than ever, as a matter of law, as a humanitarian matter, as a matter of national security, we must protect our nation's borders.
We MUST:
- Deploy more patrol agents and investigators to our borders.
- Equip these professionals with the very best equipment and technology available.
- Build an enduring infrastructure -- frontline defenses -- that will protect our borders for years to come.
These are just a few of the steps that will secure America's borders.
Because when we enhance the security of our borders, we increase the safety of our citizens and all who set foot on American soil.
As this is an issue of such profound importance, I would like to hear your opinion on the matter.
So please visit www.SecureAmericasBorders.com today to participate in my Security and Immigration Survey.
I look forward to your response.
Bill Frist, M.D.
Senate Majority Leader

Yea, someone wants to be president, doesn't he? Doesn't he own many hospitals which perform abortions. Hillary seems more into protecting our borders than republicans. He really doesn't mention in his survey about using the military to "guard" our borders.
Funny, we can use our military to guard the borders of South Korea for over 50 years and the Iraqi No-Fly Zone for over 10 yrs. but we can't use our military to guard our own borders. Funny, isn't it?

Dude, I am completely in your camp. This is pure lip-service on Frist's part, just like Mrs. Rodham. This is exactly the same thing as arming the pilots - all talk and nothing but obstruction! The only glimmer of hope is that this banter is going to open the flood gates of popular support. The only issue where normal Democrats (all 5 of them) and Republicans agree is that the border situation is shameful.

Coleus, I don't know why they bumped this to bloggers so fast. It was a pretty good survey. I hate that they act like the airports are not border points also. If they'd had a section for comments I would have included that.
Thanks for posting this!

I put it on the bloggers myself, saved them the trouble. It's not really news.

I wouldn't trust Frist to guard our borders, but it's a hopeful sign that he is doing this survey. Until recently a moderate Republican wouldn't have dared to mention the subject.

Hillary Clinton voting record: July, 2005
http://grades.betterimmigration.com/testgrades.php3?District=NY&VIPID=896
Grade for career: D-
Recent: F
Remember these grades, as this is the REAL Hillary. I suspect she will change the grades (through her voting) when running for president.
I am very concerned when I hear conservatives saying, or calling talk shows, saying they will support Hillary because she will secure our borders. Some are probably liberals pretending to be conservative, but some, I know for a fact ARE conservatives.
We need to spread the word, call talk shows, write letters to editors, etc. to inform voters about the REAL Hillary, or she just might be our next president.

I heard a communist-uh-liberal pundit calling Hillary a "moderate" over and over today on FNC. What is it the left says about a lie, telling it a lot makes it true?

This survey is garbage. Not worth my time or yours either.

The left is always doing that. Sadly, too many people believe them.
