You Want to Escalate, We'll Escalate, and You'll Lose...Big!
31 July 05 | HMV

We hear the chilling news about the possibility of suitcase nukes inside our borders, we hear that 10, maybe even 20 of our cities may be at risk.

The risk we face is nothing compared to what the Islamic World faces if terrorists choose to escalate the war on terror.

We currently have Poseiden Nuclear Submarines on patrol in the Indian Ocean. No terrorist could ever find them, much less destroy them. A single sub can unleash 50 missiles with pinpoint accuracy, each with a warhead bigger than the sum of even 20 suitcase nukes.

If the terrorists want to ensure that there would be no retaliation, they would have to destroy not only our major cities, but also our bombers, our land-based missile systems, our complete command and control network, and our nuclear submarines.

They cannot do this, and escalation brings with it such huge risks of anihilation of the Islamic world that it would seem incomprehensible that they would try to raise the stakes. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Idiocy, total idiocy. Either he mistated his point or he's a slightly more clever Stormfronter.

"The military maybe compelled to launch a coup if the civil authorities are hamstrung by liberal traitors and appeasers"

I don't think the liberals will have much of a say because they are all bad shots and scared of guns anyway.

"...Ok, a suitcase nuke has just vaporized lower Manhatten, whom do you propose to retaliate against?"

Well, I suppose if it's only "Lower" Manhattan thatmeans it hasn't reached 45th and 1st Ave., right?? In that case, the U.N. sounds good, no?? : )

"I say we HAVE to nuke somebody if we get nuked. At that point the stakes are so high we have to demonstrate the backbone to Zot(!)"

Yes, and then Zarcaqawi(sp) or whoever is the AQ spokesman issues a statement: "Naner-naner boo-boo, missed us!"

No,

The poster was attacked for his 'elimination words' (see post #136)... I was only asking for a clarification on why his elimination words were any different from the others on this thread.

I'll just make a 'huge assumption' and guess that it wasn't the 'elimination words' which troubled his attacker.

I LOVE that response!!!! : )

Well, that's not what I got out of RDB3's #93 reply, but I'm sure RDB3 will speak for himself. (actually I'm not sure of how soon that'll be since he's broken in about 4 or 5 pieces right now and busy healing them back together and taking pain meds in the process). But, that phrase is certainly not exclusively what me gave me the red-a55 about Taquinas post (just the latest one, btw).

Nor do I suppoes that those "thoughts" are ever verbalized from anywhere other than while cowering behind an anonomous keyboard...

How are ya, Cy, and how goes the engagement?? Petro doesn't seem like his feet have touched earth over the past few weeks, I love it!! You guys still going to live out on the Island??

First of all, that would be "neutered".

And I am as well informed, as I am about islam, that what I think, and what you think for that matter, doesn't count for much in the final analysis.

I don't really care what you think. I just feel personally offended by being fed false reasoning and sophistry.
And we're both entitled to our opinion. Let's agree to disagree, and move on.

Can't argue with any of what you said, but I note that not only do you have a firm grasp of history and islam but are able to see and analyze the interdependence of them, and the applicability to the current dilemma.

Unlike the barely literate who are not only ignorant of history and islam, the concept of deterrence and the obligation to protect one's citizens above all else, and who embrace PC as a religion, but can't even spell "solace" and "neutered"...

Thanks for your input HR. I hope you get to feeling better soon as well rdb3. I too will be slow to respond to future posts as I have work to do and errands to run. But I will respond later.

I will leave you with this. Please re-read his/her post without your personal biases and crosses to bear. Many assumptions have been made here for which I found no basis. Read it from a 'factually accurate' point of view, not a morally right or wrong one. Also expand the time frame from the sixties... Use the last 30 or so years inclusive as your points of reference. Also try splitting culture and Christian heritage. In my opinion, two different issues.

Until later...

We do not have the political will to ever do this. 'Pod.

Good question. Ask a Muslim. Note the response. Nufsed.

Do people seriously think if Mecca was destroyed Muslims would shrug and become Presbyterians or something?

"After World War II, Shinto lost its status of state religion; some Shinto practices and teachings, once given a great deal of prominence during the war, are no longer taught nor practiced today, and some remain largely as everyday activities without religious connotations... "

Not Presbyterian, more like Islam LITE.

Excellent point. Then the question becomes, are Muslims more or less rational than the imperial Japanese were?

But you miss the obvious problem: You can't intimidate jihadists with Mutually Assured Destruction when they are already resigned to their own death in order to take out some "infidels". They simply don't care.

Look, the idea is to intimidate the mass of muslims who kind of support the Jihadi's, but DON'T want to be martyrs, ie most of the people in those countries. As long as they are confident that THEY won't pay a price they will not do anything to control them. Once they are sure they may face annihilation THEY will be sure the Jihadi's are shut down. The extremists can only operate where they are supported or at least tolerated by the government and mass of muslims around them. Unless we change that dynamic we can't elimanate them.

This is exactly analogous to our strategy in the Cold War where we planned massive retaliation on Soviet cities for any attack on us or our allies.

Yep.

We should issue a demand to Saudi Arabia to round up or take out the Muslim extremists, issue the same to Iran, or let them know, via public issue, that what Tancredo has said will be doubled.
