Subject: Re: Fw: Nightline Tonight Mon., March 14, 2005

That was my son's unit. He was killed on that day 04/04/04. Here is a letter that I wrote to NightLine about the broadcast:
  Love

  Cindy Sheehan

  March 15, 2005

  To Whom it May Concern:

Imagine my distress when I turned Night Line on last night and I was confronted with the gory details of my son's murder in Sadr City, Baghdad, Iraq on 04/04/04. Imagine, also, my sorrow and rage at the side of the story that you presented to the American public.

[SNIP]

I was on the Night Line Townhall Meeting in Washington, DC on 01/27/05. After I spoke (which I think was a fluke), Ted Koppel dismissed me as being "emotional." First of all, how can I approach this discussion without emotions, MY SON WAS KILLED, AND KILLED FOR LIES? Second of all, that show was not fair and balanced and I think the conclusion "Should we stay" was foregone.

The show last night was also not fair and balanced. To see all the wives being interviewed who had not lost their husbands and to hear what "hard work" it is to be left behind when their husbands are at war. How hard to you think it is to have a child killed in an illegal and immoral war? In this "wonderful" group of families left behind, we had exactly ONE of the wives call us..she is Diane Rose who was my son's Colonel, Frank Rose's wife. The last time we heard from Diane was in October and we feel we have been left behind by anyone connected to the 2-5 Cavalry. Is support only given if your loved one stays alive? One wife was quoted as saying that Sundays were the hardest for the families left behind. My son was killed on Palm Sunday last year..how does anybody think Sundays are for my family?

Am I emotional? Yes, my first born was murdered. Am I angry? Yes, he was killed for lies and for a PNAC Neo-Con agenda to benefit Israel. My son joined the Army to protect America, not Israel. Am I stupid? No, I know full-well that my son, my family, this nation, and this world were betrayed by a George Bush who was influenced by the neo-con PNAC agenda after 9/11. We were told that we were attacked on 9/11 because the terrorists hate our freedoms and democracy...not for the real reason, becuase the Arab-Muslims who attacked us hate our middle-eastern foreign policy. That hasn't changed since America invaded and occupied Iraq...in fact it has gotten worse.

It would be so amazing if your show would put me, or another parent who lost their child on who disagrees with the war and this administration: to have just an entire show..without presenting the false side of the debate. That would take a lot of courage and integrity. I hope your program will exhibit these qualities.

I also think that Mr. Koppel owes me an apology for the rude way I was treated on his show. After I expressed myself about the war being based on lies and that the troops should be brought home immediately because the war was based on lies, I was not thanked for my comments, or my son's sacrifice. He just said to keep the discussion away from emotions. Then, the wife of a soldier who was killed was allowed to speak and she praised the policies of this deplorable and despicable administration, and she was thanked and praised by the panel.

Just wondering (without a job) how she can afford her very own "impeach Bush" bus for herself and all of her friends?

I know the answer but am not sure which GROUP specifically picked up the tab for it. Any way to get the license number from the bus and run it through the registration to find out its ownership?

I though he was in the Marines?

That aside, in a round about way she does have a point. The people who sold this war to Bush are Neocons. Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, Douglash Feith, David Frum, Bill Kristol and his gang at the Weekly Standard.

Perle, Wolfowitz, Frum and Feith are all out of the administration now. Feith's guy at the Pentagon Larry Franklin has been indicted for passing classified info to AIPAC along with two of its high ranking employees.

Besides Michele Malkin and Jerry Sepper at the Washington Times, no one has really covered this scandal. As much as I think we should give Israel moral and material support, its not the 51st state and I'm afraid many neocons think it is.

since many/most of you apparently consider Israel the 51st state.

I'd prefer Israel to some of the states we have, frankly. (no, not naming names!)

Maybe you missed these two statements from Cindy, right before you posted:

"We were told that we were attacked on 9/11 because the terrorists hate our freedoms and democracy...not for the real reason, becuase the Arab-Muslims who attacked us hate our middle-eastern foreign policy."

"You get America out of Iraq and Israel out of Palestine and you'll stop the terrorism," she exclaimed."

Do you agree that we were justifiably attacked because Israel exists (i.e., is in Palestine)?

If you do you agree with Bin Laden as well, since that is his claim as well.

Maybe the father is responsible for the patriotic son...not the insane mother. You sound like going into the Army is something despicable. Is that what you meant?

Took this off this Web site. Was trying to research more about her husband and family:

Cindy Sheehan says Bill O'Reilly's Show is an "Obscenity to Humanity"

I just got off a conference call with Cindy Sheehan. Even though it rained last night and Sheehan is suffering from a sore throat and a fever, she is in good spirits and very, very determined and committed to see this through.

Sheehan said she is "overwhelmed and amazed at all the support" she's getting. She specifically said Texans have been amazing as has the sheriff of Crawford. She said people from places like North Carolina, Oregon and all parts of Texas are coming to Crawford to join her. She credited the Internet, saying without it, "nobody would know what was truly going on." The "mainstream media is a propaganda tool for the government," she said, and without the Internet, "we would be a fascist state." So true.

Someone asked whether she was going to be on Bill O'Reilly's show tonight. She said the show called her this morning and invited her on. Initially she thought she would take them up on it but then she thought, "no!" She said it's fine if O'Reilly disagrees with her politics but after he attacked her last night she decided she's "not going to dignify his show" with her presence. She said O'Reilly's show is an "obscenity to the truth and an obscenity to humanity."

Representative Jan Schakowski (D-IL) was on the call and sent Sheehan her love and support. Schakowski said if anyone wonders what noble cause Casey Sheehan died for, the noble cause was to help Cindy Sheehan "end this war." I think Schakowski is probably right.

Sheehan said she had four dates with NBC for interviews but NBC canceled two of them and didn't show for the other two. She noted that a lot of money is being made on this war by companies such as GE, the owner of NBC, so naturally they aren't going to be enthusiastic about covering her story. So true.

Asked how she feels about the MSM devoting so much time to the Natalee Holloway story, Sheehan said "Holloway is a tragedy for one family" but what she's doing is trying to help thousands of families avoid tragedy.

Support Cindy. Go to MeetWithCindy.org. Do whatever you can to help. If nothing else, sign the online petition, here, asking President Bush to meet with Cindy.

The call was recorded and I will post a link to it as soon as it's available.

Let's keep on keepin' on everyone. There is much to do.

Maybe we can add our own little comments to her petition?

Doubt it was the father
http://tinyurl.com/acogk

To help him cope with his loss, Pat Sheehan bought a 1969 VW Bug convertible last month. He says working on the car takes his mind off Casey's death and the political issues he is focused on

"What the hell is a 'neo-con' anyway?"

After you've read between many lines from those who call themselves "paleo-cons," you see that "neo-cons" are those of us who are not neo-Nazis. "Paleo-cons" are semi-closeted, cryptic, national socialist Caligula lobby people.

Then keep looking. To be sure, it is not happening overnight, people have a hard time shaking off a lifetime of beliefs. It's not easy to realize that you have been wrong for many years. And it's mostly non-religious, secular jews who are hanging on to the Democratic party, covering their ears and pretending they don't hear the rising chorus of jew hate. I left, and personally know other Jews who have left as well. Then there are people who are somewhat well known who have decamped; actor Ron Silver comes to mind. And, of course, my particular hero: David Horowitz. If the Dem party continues down this road, the Jewish Democrat will go the way of the Dodo.

Knock off the personal insults.

For what?

"Intellectually challenged"?

Directed to no individual?

Who bitched?

Not having the opportunity to confront accusers is un-American!

What is this forum coming to?

Have you considered giving pansies a timeout?

That is an ad completely funded by Soros.

Yes, I know- I thought the overlay of faces on Rushmore a nice illustration of the egomania of these characters.

More from Cindy:
http://www.gopusa.com/news/2005/june/0617_antiwar_activistsp.shtml

The mother of a soldier who was killed in combat in Iraq told an anti-war rally near the White House on Thursday that President George Bush "doesn't deserve our allegiance."
[SNIP]

Joining Sheehan onstage at the rally were other members of her organization, each of whom had lost a family member in the fighting in Iraq. "This is the happiest day I've had since my son died," Sheehan said.

During her earlier comments before more than 40 Democratic members of Congress, Sheehan said she believed before the March 2003 invasion of Iraq -- and is "even more convinced now -- that this aggression on Iraq was based on a lie of historic proportions and was blatantly unnecessary."

She added that the so-called Downing Street Memo "only confirms what I already suspected: The leadership of this country rushed us into an illegal invasion of another sovereign country on pre-fabricated and cherry-picked intelligence."
