AIR ENRON: NO LETTING UP
By Michelle Malkin · August 10, 2005 01:49 PM

Al Franken is laughing it off and the elite media is still blowing it off, but the Air America/Air Enron financial fiasco continues to unfold. Ed Morrissey and his legal consultant/reader Eric Costello shine renewed light on the Piquant buyout shell game here and here, previously explored by Leon H. at Macho Nachos.

The Washington Times pounds the MSM and race hustlers' blackout in a new editorial today, "Air Scamerica."

And in a fascinating little side development, a former Clear Channel official has been hired by Air America Radio:

Russ Gilbert has been named vice president of Interactive for Air America Radio, including the network and its flagship station WLIB AM New York. The announcement was made by Air America President Gary Krantz.

Gilbert will oversee all Web initiatives for the company, including multiple revenue streams, premium services, content administration, alliances with other progressive Web sites and integration of Air America’s Web presence with its affiliate radio stations. In addition, his team will create a Web site for AM 1190 Air America New York to support local sales, programming and marketing initiatives.

“We are extremely happy that Russ is helping to grow our team at Air America Radio,” said Krantz. “Russ is an ‘impact player’ who knows the intricacies of the Interactive space, as well as the constantly evolving area of integrating audio content with our core constituency of radio and other audio and video partners. He represents a significant asset to our team who will implement a strong and creative Internet presence in the industry.”

“I'm looking forward to working with the incredible talent at Air America to take www.airamericaradio.com to the next level,” said Gilbert.

Is he working for free?

Your NYT/Air America Update
The NYT search is for "air america." The most recent story found is still:

THE ARTS/CULTURAL DESK | June 15, 2005, Wednesday $ Comedian for Senator? Don't Laugh
By DAVID CARR (NYT) 1472 words
They continue to ignore the scandal, fiddling while the blogosphere (and the NYPost) continue to burn 'em.

Kinda validates that firing, doesn't it?

Air America Radio Hires Gilbert As VP Of Interactive

Regarding Michelle's comments:

> ... a former Clear Channel official has been hired
> by Air America Radio ...

"hired" is arguable. The press release says "named".
If he is not in fact working for free (or on
contingency/commission), then ...

It's just possible that Air Enron has located a sugar
daddy, and is about to get a new infusion of cash.
Bringing in a Clear Channel dude (and the assumption
of conservative baggage) suggests that the benefactor
has attached some serious strings to the money,
including: "Bring in some management with actual
successful experience in running a radio network."

Keep in mind extreme Liberal Rob Glaser of RealNetworks (Realplayer etc.) and his financial relationship with Air America.

Since the demise of the Janet Reno DOJ, the PARTIALLY-Marxism-fueled antitrust assault against Microsoft here in the US has faded but RealNetworks is among those continually attacking Microsoft from EU courts.

Also no mention in The Buffalo News ( "Pravda on the Lake").

The BG is the NYT Jr. Check page 2 of any edition.
It is owned by the NYT, and often used to float stories
the NYT wants run, but doesn't want attributed to the NYT.
This usually means unsupportable speculation and other
attacks lacking credible evidence. The NYT can then echo
them as "The Boston Globe reported that ..."

In this case, I suspect the NYT (and their BG lapdog)
are awaiting some sunshine in the case. Right now, it's
pretty bleak for Air Enron. The NYT may even be helping
to arrange new financing, and advising Franken on how
to stay out of jail.

Didn't Senator Maria Cantwell (RAT-WA) head up RealNetworks at one time?

Liberals stealing? I thought it was republican capitalist that were the greedy ones. (sarcasm off)

Of course Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would be outraged at this event if the radio network were conservative.

Dang that Al Franken is a goofy looking Bastardo.

Like most liberals, he is one smug elitists thinking a$$hole of an individual.

For all of his stupidity he could be in charge of muck diving for political turds in the sewer know as the Democratic party.

One thing for sure you want have to worry about Al franken chasing down young female White House interns.

However he does have extra knee pads so his pants don wear out when he is under HowWeird Deaniac's desk servicing him.
