THE al-Qaeda master plan to take over the world and turn it into an Islamic state has been revealed for the first time.
For a new book, Jordanian journalist Fouad Hussein interviewed top lieutenants of the terrorist network, including the mastermind of many atrocities in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
Al-Zarqawi — al-Qaeda's Second Generation is published only in Arabic, but could be translated into English.
Hussein says al-Qaeda views its struggle as a long-term war with seven distinct phases.
Phase one is the "awakening" in the consciousness of Muslims worldwide following the September 11, 2001, suicide attacks. The aim of the attacks was to provoke the US into declaring war on the Islamic world and thereby mobilising the radicals.
Phase two is "Opening Eyes", the period we are now in and which should last until 2006. Hussein says the terrorists hope to make the "Western conspiracy" aware of the "Islamic community" as al-Qaeda continues to mould its secret battalions ready for battle.
Phase three, "Arising and Standing Up", should last from 2007 to 2010, with increasingly frequent attacks against secular Turkey and arch-enemy Israel.
Phase four, between 2010 and 2013, will see the downfall of hated Arab regimes, including Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Oil suppliers will be attacked and the US economy will be targeted using cyber terrorism.
Phase five will be the point at which an Islamic state, or caliphate, can be declared — between 2013 and 2016.
Phase six, from 2016 on, will be a period of "total confrontation". As soon as the caliphate has been declared, the "Islamic army" will instigate the "fight between the believers and the non-believers" that has so often been predicted by al-Qaeda's leader, Osama bin Laden.
Phase seven, the final stage, is described as "definitive victory".
Hussein writes that in the terrorists' eyes, because the rest of the world will be so beaten down by the "One-and-a-half billion Muslims", the caliphate will undoubtedly succeed. This phase should be completed by 2020, although the war should not last longer than two years.

People make fun of W for not immediately declaring Islam anathema to civilization. However, the smartest thing he could have done right after 9-11 was recognize that OBL wanted war declared on Islam so more Muslims would heed the call the jihad. He played it right, at the right time, and OBL has been gnashing his teeth over it ever since.
Exactly! "Phase one" is backfiring big time on them. Instead on declaring war on Islam and helping the recruitment effort, we are promoting the spread of freedom among Muslims. That is OUR "phase one". We need to look at this war of ideas from a long term perspective.

An Islamic state would require one (bad ass) ruler or a tight circle of family/tribe members.
There are too many power mad dictators in the Islamic world to make for a single state. Before they could take over the world they will fall to fighting between each other.
As for a number of states working together for a single cause? Well, we can see how that is working now.

So, they plan to destroy the world or at least that might be what this plan leads to.
A few bearded men with burning eyes, remembering some harsh tales told by other bearded men with burning eyes, about atrocities that had taken place a thousand years ago, decided they would restore the glory that was the Caliphate on the Euphrates, and the way to do that is to destroy anything that may compete with that glorious and gleaming city.
Since New York City is the capital of the world, they chose to start there, and since Washington is the place where the Grand Vizier to the Great Satan resides, that would be the second target.
Unfortunately, that was an error in judgment. The Great Satan is neither so blind, nor so impotent, as to be unable to respond to insult, and in a mighty rage, the now aroused leaders and populace of the United States rose and smote the apostates of the Islam religion.
Not indiscriminately, but directing the punishment to those who either committed the atrocities against the US, or those who protected them. As it so happened, all the targets turned to be Muslim, but not all Muslims are or ever have been the targets. Just the ones with the burning eyes. And cradling an AK-47 rifle in their arms.
