Jim Gilchrist Stance On Iraq War?
(Enter Link Here) Congress: J. Scott Davis vs. Jim Gilchrist ^ | 26 AUGUST 2005 | J. Scott Davis

Posted on 08/26/2005 4:21:59 PM PDT by jscottdavis_for_48th_district

"Minuteman" Jim Gilchrist is my prospective opponent for California's 48th District U.S. House Rep. special election. Does anyone know what his stance is on the Iraq War? I for one firmly support the President and our operations in Iraq. What is Gilchrist's position on the war?

Thank you, J. Scott Davis

It still was a militarized wall and something Ronald Reagan was against and where he gave one of the most stirring speeches of his Presidency.

That speech was one of the greatest speeches that any American president has ever given.

"I wish to serve the best interests of all Americans. Where might I research these 3 control plans for confronting illegal immigration so that I can provide you with an answer. Upfront, I'm going to tell you that I always consider Senator McCain's position."

Thank you.

I'll take that as my answer.

And with that, I'll leave this thread, I'm no longer interested in any further discussion, nor of this anti-Gilchrist-centered 'candidacy'. Bye!

Well, whatever our strategy is on blocking illegal immigration, it is not working. Our present system is not effective. It will take a serious effort by citizens, law enforcement, courts, and the government if they are going to have a serious impact on illegal immigration.

One major strategy that is stopping terrorism is our placing troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Jim's actual position on taxation, taken from two local OC blogs a couple weeks ago:

"Unfortunately, recent press reports concerning my supposed support for the estate tax lacked any context, and are untrue.

In fact, I support Congressman John Linder’s House Bill 2525, known popularly as ‘the FairTax’.

Passage of the FairTax will make all discussion of the estate tax moot, since it totally ends all current forms of federal taxation, replacing them with one single-rate national retail sales tax.

If our goal is to leave our children and grandchildren a country that is free and prosperous, there are few things we can do on the economic front that will accomplish it as effectively as passing this fundamental reform of the way we collect taxes.

The day when Americans can take home 100% of everything they earn, saving and investing their hard-earned money with no fear of the ravages of the taxman, is one we should all look forward to and work towards. I will do so, in or out of Congress.

Can you imagine a world free of the paperwork nuisance of filing annual tax returns?

My goal is, and always will be, to lessen burdens on the American people and to restore freedom. Nothing will do that like the elimination of the federal income tax.

Those of you who wish to educate themselves about the FairTax, and its provisions to end the IRS once and for all, can find all the information they need at:

http://www.fairtax.org/

Thanks!"

Jim Gilchrist, CPA, MBA(taxation)

It is inconceivable that during time of war when our young American men and women are fighting and dying in a foreign country to defeat an enemy which has attacked us and vowed to destroy us, would vote for a Congressional candidate whose party opposes that war.

What really makes these turkeys a collective head case is that they betray their country and neighbors for no better reason than they think that Congress should have approved the war with a declaration instead of a resolution.

It would almost be comical if we hadn't see what this type lunacy did during the War in Vietnam.

Cilchrist isn't going to be able to hide from the AIP and its racist history.

It's not racist. That's a canard that liberal RINOS throw at it to keep good conservatives in the RINO tent. It's a states-rights platform, laways has been.

Buchanan is not a conservative

While he takes some positions I disagree with, Pat is a longstanding conservative. He is one of the fiercest fighters for traditional values that I know of. He's a limited government guy. He's been in the conservative movement for many years.

Oh, I forgot. The Bushies redefined people like that out of the conservative movement.

he's displaying liberal flip-flopping on the Iraq War.

This has been explained to you several times in this thread, J.Scott. If you don't mind my saying so, I don't think you're bright enough to be in Congress, and that's going some.

In no way is it a flip-flop. Gilchrist's position was that he was opposed to the invasion of Iraq. However, he was outvoted on that. We are there. We must finish the job. Many respectable conservatives have taken the same position. Many took exactly that position in the first Gulf War. The liberal position is that we are immoral and must leave immediately, if not sooner.

You insist on seeing no difference between those two positions. That's because, IMO, you're a water carrier for teh RINOs who run the California GOP.

A fence is ridiculous! Any half-wit trained terrorist could repel right over it.

That's why we electrify it, make it barbed wire, dig it deep into the ground (several feet), and put a (deep) moat behind it, followed by an increased, well-armed Border Patrol/National Guard.

And a fence is working for Israel. Have you noticed that suicide bombings in Israel have diminished to virtually zero since they built the thing?

It's ironic that "loyal Republican" BayouRINO accuses everyone else of being a Buchananite. I never voted for Pat Buchanan in my life, but BayouRINO is already on record hoping for the defeat of a Republican incumbent.

My guess is that Bayou and J.Scott are Dimmycrap plants, or plants from the RINO establishemnt that runs the GOP and is scared of Gilchrist and other conservatives.

Hello again, JScott.

JeffHead sent me a message pointing me at this thread...

Jeff; The fetus is not human enough right from the start. While I wish to avoid someone having an abortion, it's still a woman's right to chose. I believe that if I woman is raped, she has the right to an abortion. Having the child could really effect her mentally. Have you considered that?

Don't use rape as a political football. You know, hard cases make bad law and all that...

In the meantime, I pose these three questions to you on the subject of rape and abortion:

1. What percentage of "unwanted" pregancies are actually due to rape? (Recall that Roe. v Wade was claimed to be about a pregancy resulting from rape; the plaintiff has since admitted she was lying.)

2. If you wish to stick to the rape idea, do you then support the force of the state to investigate the records of abortion clinics as a tool for investigating possible rape? This would include forcible rape as well as statutory rape--the 22-year-old boyfriend and 16-year-old girlfriend. 3. How much effort have you expended in talking with women going through post-abortion syndrome? It is facile to say "abortion is an easy out"; and it reminds me of the old joke about Ted Kennedy:
Q. Senator Kennedy, how do you feel about the abortion bill?
A. Well, I guess I'll just have to pay it.

Cheers!

" You may not like it but you and the other antis have been outed."

And YOU have been outed as well. The post below may explain why you are so interested in open borders:

I had acquaintances who flew drugs in from Cancun by private jet. They'd stop in Cuba for refueling and bring back cigars. I ran into the DA one night when we were both smoking the same type.

BTW, no one should forget your racist post:

if I had my personal preference, instead of Mexican laborers, we would have Western European laborers with blond hair and blue eyes pouring across our borders bringing their beautiful daughters. But that isn't reality. Neither is "sealing the border".

To recognize that Republicans must not unnecessarily alienate Hispanic voters with gratuitous insults if we hope to keep Hillary out of the White House is not the same as saying that I want to invite them to live in my house.

However all my relations with Hispanics have been good. Can't say that about Nigerians and half a dozen other types.

You can't oppose the war, but support the troops.

I don't buy that. I support the war in Iraq. I did not however, support the United States taking sides in the Kosovo-Serbian conflict, especially since we were taking the side of Al Qaeda-affiliated terrorists. Are you saying I was against the troops, because I didn't agree with the U.S. getting involved in this war, and, in essence, helping terrorists?
