Yep...nothing but the tree in the foreground.
It's outrageous that nursing homes would be left unattended except for one individual. It's clear NO either didn't have a plan or the mayor chose to ignore The Plan.
Steve on FNC just said that the winds are 150 MPH, but since the storm is moving at 15 MPH, it will feel like the winds are 165 MPH...
Gad! I sometimes wonder where Steve comes up with this stuff...
The streetlight just went out across from the StreetcarCam..
I think they all rotate. I'm getting dizzy watching all that radar rotation for the past 20 hours.
I think you might mean eyewall replacement.
The Weather Channel mentioned that, but they weren't sure if it was happening yet. I think if it gets replaced, it gets stronger, otherwise it breaks up and gets weaker.
When does the sun come up? (or is that a stupid quesiton?)
He's going to be wired when this is over..

StreetcarCam streetlight back on!
The nuke plant's been shut down and secured as of yesterday.
Morning, all.
I'll be here for an hour before I have to leave for work.
Shep checked in - he's okay, and he's definately still in the French Quarter.

streetcar cam pic only loaded halfway, looks like it's getting narly out there. I woke up without alarm clock just fifteen minutes ago. I knew this storm would hit right about now.
I don't think anyone's going to see any sun there today, unless then run outside while the eye is passing over.
In about 45 minutes or so. Should be about 6:15
Yes, I think that's the term I heard them mention last night. Eyewall replacement.
I never thought I'd be glad to hear of winds in the 145 mph category, but since the high of this storm was about 179...
Yes it is.
Not out yet of the woods yet, but down to cat 4, winds at 140, shifting a little, moving quicker, etc.

Drank too many Hurricanes ? The worse flooding is supposed to occur after the eye goes north of Lake Ponchatrain and the winds on the back side blow that water over the levees. Wind induced current from pressure. Basic physics.
He's just trying to make himself feel better. Can't blame him, I guess. Yesterday he seemed pretty shaken as anybody would be.
The guy in the street seems to have more of a handle on reality, (and what happened to the guy at the Dome, I think his name was Jeff Goldblatt.)
But it sounds like Shep thinks they've dodged the bulled and doesn't think they'll be flooding, and maybe there won't, but I don't think the thread of flooding has past.
I worry about Shep period. I hope we don't lose him. (...and I don't mean just his cell signal.)
