FEMA's Response -- Thank you for posting this. Her story and those like it need to be heard and published.

Money that Congress set aside for New Orleans evacuation plan went instead to studying bridge

A Tale of Two Hospitals (Katrina relief) -- The truth IS getting out.  Written by a physician doing hurricane relief work. I thought this excerpt regarding how they ended up in MS instead of LA was worthy of a post.

The Katrina Blame Game: Environmentalists Under Fire -- Enviros need to be taken to the Amazon jungle, striped nekked, handed a knobby stick and told to feed and care for themselves for a six month period of time. I'd love to here their views on modern technology, medicine and sanitation after that sabbatical.

Federal Judge Dismisses Greenhouse Gas Lawsuit -- The reasoning that went into this decision is similar to the reasoning (and language) that went
into this BLAST FROM THE PAST decision out of Florida.

For a ground-level view of what’s going on in Louisiana, here’s a blog called “Cerberus,” written by a cop with one of the big-city Southern police departments. “Cerberus” is currently on detatched duty in the disaster zone, working with deputies in beleagured St. Charles Parish, across the river from New Orleans.

Governor Blanco Delivers Democratic Radio Address

 On Mugabe and Katrina

Money Earmarked for Evacuation Redirected -- During the Clinton regime, money went to the State of Louisiana for an evacuation plan, but they spent it on something unrelated. Two years later more money followed, with the same result.

Drowned Out by Katrina, Berger Gets Away With It

More evidence of Louisiana government foul-ups -- I found the page you referred to in your above post. I think it's important to note that the text on the Louisiana Sportsman Magazine site is identical to the one I linked to above and in no way reflects the lying crap that the lefties are posting on their web sites.

The AP: Never Have So Few Kept So Many in the Dark for So Long -- The IEM press release that contains the erroneous information has been disappearing and reappearing, another sign of something suspicious with IEM.
Er, a little elementary Web-sleuthing:
I put the IEM press releases page in the Wayback Machine. it shows that the last three times it captured the page were on June 22, 2004, July 10, 2004 and October 16, 2004.
It also indicates content changes on the first and third of these dates.
Note that on all these pages, and on the current page, there exists a link to a June 3, 2004 press release.
All the ones I looked at contain an asterisk next to James Lee Witt Associates and the disclaimer at the bottom.
However, if you feed the press release's URL into the Wayback Machine, it returns only a date of November 26, 2004, and guess what?
There's no asterisk or disclaimer on that copy of the press release.
And look at the title on the top of your browser window- it's for a previous press release.
I suspect that somebody copied the earlier page, inserted the new release, and neglected to update the HTML title information.
Print 'em now, folks, while you still can.

The Impeach Blanco site has a video clip of her admitting she should have asked fo the National Guard earlier. Also lots of other great stuff.  http://www.impeachblanco.org/

Ethnic news organizations find a new angle on the Katrina story -- For more first hand accounts that put the Has-Been Media to shame. This is from Powerlineblog.com which points to Dr. Goodheart's blog. Dr. Stanley Tillinghast is the cardiologist whom John wrote about in "A doctor reports from the front." When Hurricane Katrina hit, Dr. Tillinghast cashed in some miles for a plane ticket to Jackson, Mississippi, rented a car, and started driving until he came to people who needed his help. He is now writing at Dr. Goodheart (as John explained, he means your heart, not his) to record his experiences.

FEMA Funds to Study NOLA Evacuation Were Diverted -- I just received a call from Kim Fuller in Kansas City, who is the "official spokesman" for James Lee Witt. She called me, and spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me. They are in serious damage-control mode over Witt's involvement in the prior Evacutation-FEMA contracts prior to Hurricane Katrina...

What caused the flood? Take your pick (corruption) -- The (Orleans Levee) board operates an airport, two marinas, and has a private police force that Nungesser says ''wears more gold braid than Gen. MacArthur when he went to the Philippines.'' The board just spent $2.4 million on a Mardi Gras Fountain near Lake Pontchartrain. NBC News reports that the board spent $15 million on building overpasses to a riverboat casino, and paid $45,000 to a private investigator to find dirt on a board critic - followed by another $45,000 to settle the resulting lawsuit. Feeling dry yet?

 post-disaster musings: footnotes to failure

Drudge: 795 Poor People Die from Heat on Clinton's Watch --
Where was Clinton, Dewitt and FEMA in 1995? During the month of July heat wave of that year in Chicago, in spite of repeated warnings of the impending disaster, all of them stood by and let well over 1,000 (even higher if counting those who were admitted to hospitals and died later) poor, disabled and mostly Black elderly die alone and unaided in one week.

Why did Clinton, Dewitt's FEMA and Chicago Mayor Daley not follow their own heat disaster plan? Why did Clinton and FEMA down play the number of dead? Why were so many of the unclaimed dead stuffed into pine boxes and buried unceremoniously in mass graves? Why was this hushed up in the MSM after several independent studies and resulting reports laid the blame directly upon all of them.

Aftermath postmortem.

 §26. Recall

Section 26. The legislature shall provide by general law for the recall by election of any state, district, parochial, ward, or municipal official except judges of the courts of record. The sole issue at a recall election shall be whether the official shall be recalled.

We also have provisions for impeachment but it would be hard because they are controlled by the dems.
