Mary Landrieu: I'll Punch Bush, 'Literally'
NewsMax.com ^ | Sept. 4, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."

"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."

It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.

The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."

"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."

Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.

In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.

Hey CJ,
The Freeper is calling it as he or she sees it.

When Landrieu threatens President Bush, then she threatens me.

Sincerely, I hope your family and you suffered no damage from Katrina.

Unfortunately Ivan hit us bad, but like a good neighbor, USAA was there.

Carl, how do we go about having her arrested for this threat.

If she claims "I'm just a woman under stress" is that a defense that matters? She threatened our president.

She also showed herself not mentally sound.

Is their any mechanism by which she can be removed?

Looks like the cabal of incompetent and corrupt Democrat lawmakers and officials in NO are having some difficulty facing up to the truth that is being revealed about them.

Seriously, she should be arrested. If it were anyone other than a U.S. Senator, they damn sure would be.

They need to do something to show that this type of behavior is totally unacceptable and intolerable.

Sniveling little twit.

They can't ignore the rows and rows of unused buses. NOLA could've saved itself.

Has anyone actually seen a story on any news about the buses? I haven't.

Actually, although I think it's unrealistic to get her arrested and prosecuted for this crime, I think there might be a good solution:

Why not have her censured by the Senate? Her conduct has been absolutely disgraceful, and bringing that to light through the censure process sounds like a good option to me.

Mary's acting crazy 'cause she's gonna plead insanity when she's put on trial....

That is what it looks like from a distance if I didn't know that woman was supposed to be a Senator of the United States of America.

Maybe she's trying to stage a public emotional breakdown so she can get out of office and steal away...

But there's no telling -- especially not with the invovlement of Kathleen Blanco (Je suis la Reine de la Louisiane....).

Hey GVgirl,
Yes, and I swear I saw him do it. Maybe he put "Dominos
White Granulated Sugar" in all the gas tanks?????????

I am sure that will be the next conspiracy theory from the left, while hovering above (NO) in the Mothership # 19.

As a woman, may I give you my take?

The likes of feminists Boxer, Woolsey and Pelosi, clueless Maxine Waters from CA, the shrill voiced Ms. Rodham-Clinton and Landreu are not good female role models for young women. Nor are they examples of clear headed, decisive thinking. They are hysterical, shrill, over emotional human beings who do nothing to portray women in the best light.

They are the polar opposites of poised level headed intelligent women such as: Dr.Rice, Laura Bush, Barbara Bush.

In essence if you want the best of womanhood in office, don't make it a self-proclaimed champion of women or feminists. They are neither.

The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees

That is priceless. The fact of the matter is that, as a LA congress person it was her responsibility to see that funds for the levee system were procured. I'd like to know what funds were procured fo LA in the last few budgets.

and when they get into the voting booth, they won't vote for a female. I'm curious as to how many females thaink that way..Your take?

Speaking as a female .. I wouldn't rule out voting for a women as President .. because I think it is possible for a women to do the job

However ... With the exception of Condi Rice .. I have yet to see any possible women candidates that are up to the job

I don't want a Leader that can't suck it up and get the job done

If you or I did such a thing we would be arrested on the spot. As a Louisianian, I can do no less than demand that she be arrested and charged with a crime.

They aren't going to arrest her for those comments

However, these comments don't make very good PR for Ole Mary

Hey, Mary. Making threats is counter-productive. Try to remember, if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

The reality is Hurricane Katrina may very well expose the corruption that so many already knew existed in New Orleans and Louisiana. And Landrieu, being a part of the ruling class in that state, has to divert attention.
