Mary Landrieu: I'll Punch Bush, 'Literally'
NewsMax.com ^ | Sept. 4, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 09/04/2005 7:19:18 AM PDT by Carl/NewsMax

Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."

"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."

It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.

The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."

"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."

Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.

In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.

Afternoon Norton,
From their clear lack of loyalty and respect for the oath they all took as a Peace Officer's.

I would whole-heartedly say, if Islamic terrorists attacked NO, those very same indidviduals would have converted to islam on the spot. Once doing so, would have then joined in on the "slaughter of the infidels."

The truth always hurts the liberals and non true Americans.

Don't forget the two NO police who shed their uniforoms, took a NO police car, and fled New Orleans. Baton Rouge police stopped them thinking civilians had stolen the car.

I think that if you or I had said that, the black Suburbans would be pulling up in our driveway within a few hours.

That's exactly what I told him. I said if I went on national tv and threatened the POTUS, I would have been arrested before I left the tv station.

There has to be more that I can do to see that she pays for such an inflammatory statement.

Keep it up, Mary. You are completely showing how Democrats think and feel. Which is so out of line with mainstream America. But something that mainstream America needs to know. So thanks!!!!! Just keep it up, please. Kinda' like Howard "I-am-a-true-wacko" Dean, the leader of your party.

What I am talking about is the National Guard. One of the major problems with the rescue efforts (but certainly not all) was the lack of evacuation of the poor in the city AND the lawlessness that occured following the levee break. You say they "begged" for help on Aug 28, YET the governor rejected Bush's offer to federalize the troops later on.
So, WHO was in charge of the National Guard before, during, and immediately after the disaster? The governor. By LAW, the feds CANNOT use or order a state's National Guard UNTIL the state allows it. How many of her 6600 troops did she activate PRIOR to the hurricane? 1700. Did she use the troops prior the hurricane as a way to get out the poor people of NO using buses? No. They sit submerged under water. Did she have enough troops to insert following the levee break? No, and she hadn't even activated ALL the troops she had. Has she EVER activated them all? NO.
There is plenty of blame to go around...law enforcement leaving their posts, etc....and the feds have their own issues to explain concerning how long it took to get food and aid to those in need.
BUT the governor should have spent less time in front of the cameras saying how "heartbreaking" it was, and more time getting her National Guard into the city for law enforcement.

>>LOL don't mess with Texas ladies.

Laughing at the very thought of Mary and Laura mixing it up. My bet is on Laura who will rip her silly bleached and highlighted hair out by the roots. Or maybe, Laura might just deck her. Not sure what tactic Laura would take.<<

Are you kidding me?! As a ex-librarian, and mother to twin girls, all Laura would have to do is shoot that simpering little ninny a look of stern disapproval and waggle her finger at her in warning, "Oh no you DON'T, darlin'! Not MY husband...!"

"These women are an embarrassment."

What about the Mayor? He's not exactly the brightest light bulb around.

You're right...the timing is important.

IF the request to federalize came the Friady AFTER the storm, AND was rejected, then the Governor was in charge of the National Guard before, during and after the storm, correct?

If the request to federalize came BEFORE the storm and wsa rejected, then the Governer was in charge of the National Guard before, during and after the storm, correct?

SO if the number of National Guard troops were inadequate, the person in charge was.....

Oh yeah, Bush was at fault.

I think I'll email the hag as well.I will also drop that I have called the SS on her for threatening the president. Maybe that'll get them to being even more paranoid than they are now.

I am so sickened by this mess that those two idiots (gov. and mayor) have caused, I dare anyone to say anything to me about saying what I did...

It takes REAL MEN to ride out something like this hurricane or 9/11....and it takes a hellofa Mayor like Rudy and a great Gov. like Patkai and our President to organize like they did....

And wasn't it six months and they had ground zero cleaned up?

I wonder how long it will take this stupid Gov and Mayor to get NO back in order...6 years?

Moon's daughter is of the privileged white class in Louisiana. They run the Democrat plantation and tell their hostages when to vote, even managing thousands of them to get to the polls in the waning hours of elections when Democrats are behind. Too bad they couldn't get them out of town before a hurricane.
