Mary Landrieu: I'll Punch Bush, 'Literally'
NewsMax.com ^ | Sept. 4, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."

"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."

It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.

The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."

"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."

Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.

In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.

I did see a wonderful story about a group of citizens in some remote area that were being protected by 4 NO police.

Eventually they were rescued, but the black police officer said the problem were the men. When the helicopters finally showed, all the men were pushing and shoving to get on. Then he said, "Those men were cowards."

Is there something in the water in Louisiana? They are all starting to sound unbalanced. That 71-year-old lady on Fox news who is still in her house with her dog sounds more balanced than the people running the State.

One bright note about emptying NOLA... and relocating around the country, no dems left in the State to vote for Landrieu or Blanko.

She is blowing smoke... the levee problem goes back generations. Clinton didn't fund it, either... and whoever thought an earthen dam/levee would protect a major American City built below ground was nuts.

Someone could send Landrieu a note reminding her that 80% of the department walked off the job... or, a link to this book on the corruption in NOLA...

everytime I see this picture, I have to wonder what the real problem was getting these busses the 4.33 miles from this lager, to the Superdome was...

Right onto an onramp, down the highway, off that highway, load them up and head 'em down the road...

I scoped this out on Google Earth...

A very handy tool I might add...

this is all going to come out in the wash, pretty soon...

Any more info on the possibly backdated letter posted by Blanco?

There is no backdated letter. Every order can have its marked date, and still Blanco has only asked for federal money, and has not conceded any control of the effort to the feds.

There is a "previous request," dated last Sunday I think, which askes the President to declare parts of the state a disaster area. He complied with the request.

The sum issue with Blanco's actions is that she wants to have all of the authority but none of the responsibility. Her requests for aid, and her denial of offers by feds to take organizational control SUPPORT that conclusion - that Blanco wants the authority, but not the responsibility.

Trifecta of loosers.

Dems have leadership problems because they are the wrong end of the donkey.

All they seem to be able to do is kick.

I've never seen a donkey race, do they have such a thing?

There was an old man in our neighborhood, about 78, and he told someone he wanted to punch the local Congressman in the nose because he was angry about his Medicare situation. A few days later the FBI showed up at his door and scared the bees out of him.

Someone needs to make a big issue of this, or we will have more people thinking they can get away with threatening statements...and some who will attempt it. All, in the name of peace and caring and having a liberal viewpoint and believing everyone has "rights," of course.

The following will explain this outburst:

In an event that clearly has gripped the nation — 91 percent of Americans are paying close attention — hopefulness far outweighs discontent about the slow-starting rescue. And as in so many politically charged issues in this country, partisanship holds great sway in views of the president's performance.

The most critical views cross jurisdictions: Two-thirds in this ABC News/Washington Post poll say the federal government should have been better prepared to deal with a storm this size, and three-quarters say state and local governments in the affected areas likewise were insufficiently prepared.,/I>

She also said last night on Fox News that they would rebuild, because the spirit of the people of New Orleans was "TITANIC!" Also, that it was a fluid situation.

Go ahead, rebuild, but I would prefer you NOT use U.S. tax dollars. Go sell a casino, or something.

I wonder if the government officials of New Orleans/Louisiana are considering Emminent Domaining all the private property that was flooded. They owe some people...big time.

EVERYONE CALL LANDRIEU AND CRITICIZE THE NEW ORLEANS POLICE...LET'S TAKE HER AT HER WORD. OFFER TO SHOW UP AT HER SENATE OFFICE AND SEE IF SHE'LL ASSAULT SOMEONE FOR EXERCISING THEIR FREEDOM OF SPEECH!

Now that I've got that out of my system, let me say: I praise the cops who DID stick around in N'awlins. The worthless pricks who walked off the job and joined in the looting need to be locked up for a long long time.

These RATS are not competent to hold office.Look at what happens to them in a time of crises. They lose it! They should all resign down there from office, the mayor, the Governor and let some grown ups take over.

Check out this thread: "My hero is a bus theif"

The kid never drove a bus in his life and evacuated 80 people to Houston single-handed. Maybe he should be the mayor of N.O.

"A national leader, senator, crying on TV, will reinforce the perception that a female isn't up to the top spot..running the country...and Blanco's total melt-down this week ads to that..Sorry Hillary..."

Agreed! And Hillary! has had her tear ducts surgically plugged for just this very reason. ;)
