Mary Landrieu: I'll Punch Bush, 'Literally'
NewsMax.com ^ | Sept. 4, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."

"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."

It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.

The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."

"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."

Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.

In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.

Is it just me, or is the rhetoric on the left becoming dangerous?

Don't worry. They just want to "Bring it all down, Man!"

IMO, better purchase lots of guns and ammunition. You're going to need it.

Funny isn't it, I have heard NO recriminations, from the
Bush administration about any malfeasance or derelection
of duty by the state or city officials, (Which certainly
and plainly was in evidence.) but plenty of carping and
whining, and sniveling about how slow the Feds were.

Yet the Feds by the laws of our government could not act
until certain criteria were met BY THE STATES.

Democrats, they will even use a horror such as we are witnessing now for their political ends.

The extreme rhetoric of the Democrat left against a man who is essentially a political moderate shows what they would do if a real conservative got elected - start another civil war.

I doubt it. They can't even save themselves against the elements. They'd never fight a civil war. They'd simply surrender after peeing their pants in fear.

It is illegal, but nothing, and I mean nothing will happen to this witch.

"I might likely have to punch him - literally."

Not only aren't you man enough, Mary: your father -- whoever he really might be -- isn't man enough for the successful completion of that particular task.

Good points you bring up on those early calls for help.

Maybe more investigation is needed before knowing full story. Have you found any other related articles on it?

Still doesn't undo the fact Mayor of NO waited so late for evacuation orders. But would be interesting to get complete picture of what all the Louisiana officials were actually doing in those pre- and early-post hours.

Does sound like some cries of LA officials for help were slow getting an answer, according to those articles.

She burst into tears on camera? What is it with these people, don't they know how to do ANYTHING but cry and whine and threaten? I know people usually get the government they deserve but I can't believe any of the poor folks in Louisiana deserve these fools.

no...the MSM would have a field day if the senator doing the threatening was republican and the president was a democrat...then they would be calling for an arrest

Geez, missed the part about being a senator canjungirl. Usually senators are elected for their calm demeanor under fire, for leadership qualities and the ability to rally their constituents under the most trying of times.

For sure, my nomenclature would be out of line. Instead of twinkie could I insert ding dong?

Here is a copy of the link to the request by the Governor of Louisiana to President Bush asking for major federal assistance for the approaching hurricane.

The letter/request is dated August 28, 2005.

Here's the link (pdf):

I'm thinking jezebel might be the right term for Mary -- a shameless impudent scheming woman -- it works for her.

Or else a termagant -- a quarrelsome, scolding woman; a shrew.

I can think of a few other things to call her, but they're all along the lines of "ho" and not fit for public viewing.

It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.

Yes, but since when is Louisiana a part of this country?
