If he mentioned the exact date,I missed it.I took it he was referring to the immediate aftermath last week either just before or after chaos broke out at the Superdome.

Major Garrett tore the living hell out of the Democraps arguments. It was great that before teh report, they showed Leahey whining like a little b!tch about why it took so long to get food and medicine, only to find out that Fema was denied by the LA office of honmeland security because it would draw more people to the Superdome.

BRING ON THE HEARINGS!

Does Fox typically post transcripts of Brit's show? I recorded the entire segment, because Cameron was on target, bullseye, with this segment. This is something that should be posted on the front page of every newspaper--but I won't hold my breath.

Just saw it...it was incredible. He had just gotten off the phone with the REd Cross...the Louisiana Homeland Security would not allow the REd Cross to help people because they wanted them to LEAVE the area....but the point is...HOW were they to leave???
I say..bring the hearings ON! My understanding also is that the reason there were few supplies at the Superdome was that it was considered "last resort"..they didn't want the people to go there...they wanted them out of town. But again...How were they to leave?
What would OPrah say if she knew?

While the state was asking "Where is the food?" the state was denying the Red Cross access.

Rats, I read an article a few days ago that stated that the Red Cross has a series of smaller shelters in NO but decided not to open them because people might go to them rather than evacuate the city ... the shelters, they said were not adequate for long term stays (which at the time they anticipated due to the predicted Cat 5 hurricane).

This makes logical sense to me.

I can't find the article now.

If there's a transcript, that's even better. It can be emailed...to lots of people.

This is part of what the Red Cross lady said last week...

They still aren't in there.

Hurricane Katrina: Why is the Red Cross not in New Orleans?
* Acess to New Orleans is controlled by the National Guard and local authorities and while we are in constant contact with them, we simply cannot enter New Orleans against their orders.

Can you just imagine if this had been done by President Bush or Haley Barbour?

BG & FMC, thought y'all might want to ping this one.

If any of you get a copy of the transcript on this particular show, please let me know! We're not on cable and I missed it.

It is standard fare to tell shelterees to bring their own provisions. The night of the evacuation prior to landfall, they showed semi-trailers being unloaded on the news and said the NG was bringing in water and MRE's. What they should have brought were porta-potties and emergency lighting, all based on their Ivan experience. Since the evac order was a reluctant and last minute decision, there was no practical way to bring in enough supplies for a general population shelter. Remember, it was changed to a general shelter very late in the game.
