Earlier this week we discussed the 9/11 Anniversary and one writer mentioned that Google had not placed a logo or identifying symbol on their opening page. I wrote an e-mail and received a reply.
I just sent an e-mail in return reminding them that I will not forgot to look next year to see what they have "come up with", and as far as "hurt feelings" of the international commuity, I thought Google was still a U.S. corporation. In addition there were lives from other nations lost in that tragedy.
A logo needn't be their "only answer" in opting to ignore the anniversary (which was their primary intent)... a simple phrase "We will never forget" would have sufficed. "Lest we forget" has done well in our memorials to WWI and WWII.
I also wrote their bias is showing through in their banner ads and their links for the general public and I personally feel if they are going to become a political activist company, I will spread the word to stop utilizing their services.
The sheer numbers of abstinence may make them think twice about where they are going in their philosophies or whether they intend to cover all spectrums of ideological belief.
Their response is as follows:
"Thank you for your note. We would like to explain to you why we didn't post a Google holiday logo for September 11 this year. As an international company, we'd like our logos to reflect the diverse, global nature of our user base. The decision whether to display a special logo for a holiday doesn't reflect any judgment on our part about the holiday itself.
Furthermore, Google's special logos tend to be lighthearted in nature. If we were to commemorate September 11, we'd want to express reverence, rather than mirth. This would be a particularly challenging design. We would not want to, in any way, create a graphic that could be interpreted as disrespectful. In light of the mail we've received about this, we're actively considering designs we could display on this day next year. We welcome any suggestions you may have.

Sadly, close to 80 percent (if not more) of our elected officials should be relieved of their duty for doing nothing about the illegal invasion of our country.

Clusty use Yahoo's Overture engine (so in case you are not happy about Yahoo's politics, you'd want to stay away from Clusty too :)).
Overture was the original paid for search result and categorization engine back in the first internet bubble, and, frankly, not a very good one. Hence Clusty is not a very good tool for general search.
Clusty recognize that they are not good at general consumer search when compared to Google4, that's why Clusty's own biz model is not about going after general consumer search, but in categorizing corporate internal data warehouse (for which it's pretty good).

That's exactly what LBJ, Tricky Dick and any number of other would-be tyrants have always wished for, a united America where dissent is vanquished along with meaningful discussion.
You are wishing for that? You think talk of ending the welfare state, or closing the borders would even be tolerated under someone like Hillary if the country was "united?"

I believe you misread my word "unite".
Unity can be accomplished through honest debate with respect and responsibility - even to the point of compromise.
For the U.S. to break into ideological camps, as it seems our Congress has done since George Bush the Younger has been in office, I lay it at the Democrat's feet - they are wasting our time, the huge amounts of money we pay them to get the work of the country done in the best way possible.
Nothing can be perfect, and "United" to me doesn't mean forced, unquestioning labor or cloned mind-bend. It means this:
We must have the good of the country in our hearts - even with our divisions in the paths we take. But we must have love in our hearts for our country and not hate in our hearts for the leader and we must learn compromise to get that work done.
It seems our government has been on a track to destroy a man rather than run our business. That is not unity.
