More women are asking for prenups

Over a casual dinner, Rachel Kaplan turned to her boyfriend and asked, "You're open for a prenup, right?"

Darren Waldohlz, 38, a partner in a successful speed-dating business, admits he was caught off guard. But he said he realized a prenuptial agreement would protect the house he owns, too.

"It's not that I plan to get divorced," says Kaplan, 23, a single mom from Fort Lauderdale, who has a sizable inheritance. "I have to protect myself and my daughter."

While men are still more likely to seek a prenup, "women are becoming a more dominant force," said attorney Alan Braverman, who has offices in Fort Lauderdale and Boynton Beach.

Experts attribute the change to women marrying later or more than once.

"It's not uncommon in today's world that women are entering marriages with assets and stock options," said matrimonial attorney Jacqueline Valdespino, in Coral Gables. "Now both sides have equal bargaining power."

If you have never engaged in sexual congress, even without having a hymen, then you most assuredly were/are a VIRGIN . FWIW...forests can be VIRGINAL as well as human beings.

I think you are wasting your time. I think such understanding is beyond his mental capacity to understand.

NOW I guess I see why we have these discussions. To try to educate some others . But I think trying to do so, is more akin to the old adage of the "guy who tried to push the rock up the hill, and it keeps coming back on him".

Of course it's a waste of time to post to cretinous morons, who have less than 3 working brain cells, but if nobody refutes them, then FR winds up looking like Bedlam and worse than our enemies claim we all are.

So I post for the lurkers and to insure that FR is not taken for a madhouse, filled to the brim with the insane, the moronic, nor the uneducated.

But it's also a lot of fun to whack the idjits to a bloody pulp. LOL

However, his unusual views on women are not grounds for a banning unless he was being vulgar...beyond regular ol FR vulgarity.

Thank you wardaddy.

But how tragic for this country that someone of my traditional views--who alone seems to have resisted decades of sexual revolution liberal brainwashing--might ever be considered for banning from a "conservative" forum.

Because I dare to speak what the majority of those who lived since the beginning of the world have practiced: the difference between men and women.

I think AOR is a libertarian...

Not in the least.

I am no libertarian.

the Lord talked a lot about forgiveness in the Bible

So, do you forgive your mother for making bad choices...or will you continue to condemn her for your father's transgressions?

If you have never engaged in sexual congress, even without having a hymen, then you most assuredly were/are a VIRGIN

I am old enough to remember that the first definition of the word, virgin, is as a noun to be used for women only.

It is derived from the Latin word, virginem, meaning "young girl."

I quote from the oldest dictionary I have ready to hand--"Webster's New World Dictionary," second college edition copyright 1984:

1. a) a woman, esp. a young woman who has never had sexual intercourse b) an unmarried girl or woman "
2. less commonly, a man, esp. a youth who has never had sexual intercourse.

And that was in 1984, the earliest dictionary I have handy.

But I do remember that before the 1960s the use of the noun, virgin, to describe a man was highly unusual: calling a man a virgin would have been like calling a man a maiden.

Only since the liberal trashing of our culture with the sexual revolution--

And the ensuing feminization of America, has the first definition of virgin been changed from "woman" to "person." in most or all American dictionaries.

And just as I adhere to traditional values, so i adhere to traditional definitions.

And so the word, virgin, to me will always refer to a woman--never to a man.

I'm glad I know that not all guys on FR are paleolithic haters. Some of them even respect women. Heck, they might not sleep with a woman before offering her commitment!

Feh. You have latched onto the very thing that makes me damn sure that humans are little more than monkeys in slacks. :-)

Bloody hell, FReepers more often than not, seem to reinforce my cynicism about human nature. There are good men and good women out there. If we didn't exist, this country would not have gotten where it is today. Honestly, I am disappointed with FReeper men; I know about the bullshit, but I neither take it personally nor project it upon my world view. How the hell is anything going to improve unless we stay strong and step up to the plate.

Feh. I'm going to bed. :-)

They get the careers they want. Men get the mates they want. Everyone is happy, right?

Preach it brother.

If conservative men genuinely over-performed on average, this would be a wildly different country. No doubt about it. Feh.

I was away for a little while, now, I am back, but will go to bed soon.I will most likely have a long day tomorrow. However, I will share a little more advice.

First, I want to tell you that I am sorry for what happened to you, and your parents. I did NOT have to see a divorce, my mother and father loved each other very much, BUT-- when I was 7, (30 years ago this last July) he died, and so, my mother had to raise me and my sister alone. So, I know what it is like to have only one parent.

Second(and this will most likely get me called names-- but so be it--) I think that Oprah is one of the WORST influences on Americans, and women in particular, in the last 20 years. it is no surprise that she would had presented such an episode. Early on, most of her shows were about "evil men, and how they hurt women" I think she has been hurt by men, and uses her power AND money(around 2 BILLION )to push her man-hating agenda, and in recent years, just a non-Christian, liberal agenda all around.

Third, I think you have some bitterness, that you are holding in you heart. So do I. Mine is against people who have hurt me, mostly to have some "fun", or to get something, or just out of ignorance. Some of them were women, some of them my family, many of them "Christians". I am asking the Lord to help me get rid of this, once and for all. It does not help ANY of us, to carry that bitterness around. So, ask God to help rid you of this bitterness, and hurt. I KNOW it is not easy. But we must do this, if we are to "move on", and develop positive, productive attitudes.

Not to pull rank, or anything like that, but I just happen to have a first edition of Samuel Johnson's dictionary, published in 1755. A quick perusal of same, turned up no entry for the word "virgin". LOL

So, since you like more modern dictionaries, I pulled out a Webster's from 1960 and low and behold, under virgin, the sixth entry/definition reads as follows: "a youth or man who has not had sexual intercourse."

I sit here with WEBSTER'S ENCYCLOPEDIC UNABRIDGED DICTIONARY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, from 1989 opened to the word "virgin" and guess what it says in the sixth entry?

"a boy or man who has never never had sexual intercourse", which uses the word "boy" instead of "youth", but is, for all intents and purposes the same definition, given in the same place, as the one given in the same dictionary printed 29 earlier, before the "Sexual Revolution" was even whispered about, in the USA; let alone burgeoned into full bloom.

You wanna play silly, childish, easily refuted games? YOU CHOSE THE WRONG PERSON TO GO UP AGAINST !

Most words have more than one definition, in every dictionary ever printed. The first definition does NOT preclude the fact that there ARE, indeed, other uses/definition of that very word.

I took Latin for four years, sweetums and still remember a very great deal of it, all these decades later. So don't play play at that, with me, either.

And FYI...the use of the word "virgin", when applied to Mary, did NOT, at the time it was used, mean that her hymen was intact, but rather, that she was not yet gone through the marriage ceremony. Though, in the eyes of the Jews of the time and religiously, since she was betrothed to Joseph and the Kutubah (sp?) had been signed and witnessed by at least one Rabbi, they were wed in fact, though not formally.

And I remember in the 1950s, that the word "virgin" was used to connote those of either sex, who had never engaged in sexual intercourse. If my recollections aren't good enough for you, then how about we go back even further, to well before I was born, to the Broadway season of 1926/27 when the play "THE VIRGIN MAN" was running on in New York? It was about the seduction of a Yalie,by an older woman;BTW.

You aren't old enough to remember what America was like before the 1960s ( probably the 1970s too, for all that); just admit it. Because if you are actually older than we all suppose you are, then you are even sicker than all of us think that you are!

Wrong yet again! If you believe, as you claim you do, that a girl/woman must be a virgin at her marriage, then so should a man be one as well; traditionally. And, there's NOTHING "traditional" about saying that if a woman isn't a virgin and/or a virgin but still unmarried in her late 40s, that she should then become some man's mistress. Nor is it "traditional", for the man who impregnates a girl/woman, to imagine that it's all the girl/woman's fault and that he has less than no responsibility, whatsoever, to her and the child. As a matter of fact, it is "TRADITINAL", for said boy/man to MARRY that girl/woman and acknowledge and raise that child. Which is NOT what you believe and have said so.

It is, no matter WHAT twisted belief you have, TRADITINAL, that boys/youths and men, who have never had sexual intercourse be called virgins!

What's the problem, don't like being called a VIRGIN because you think that makes you sound effeminate ?

"And making me seem like a predator only reinforces my assumption that you have many issues."

I don't make you seem like anything. You come across as a big headed ass when you practically brag that MOST women find you irresistable. "No, sadly it's my experience that it's not hard to loosen up most women."

That tells me that you are partaking in the loosening up of these women and that makes you look like a predator. You brought that image upon yourself brother.
