Defenders of Iraq war counter-rally Smaller-than-expected gathering follows anti-war protest Sunday, September 25, 2005; Posted: 6:17 p.m. EDT (22:17 GMT) story.rally.ap.jpg Supporters and detractors of the war in Iraq line opposite sides of a Washington street Sunday. WASHINGTON (AP) -- Support for U.S. troops fighting abroad mixed with anger toward anti-war demonstrators at home as hundreds of people, far fewer than organizers had expected, rallied Sunday on the National Mall just a day after tens of thousands protested against the war in Iraq. "No matter what your ideals are, our sons and daughters are fighting for our freedom," said Marilyn Faatz, who drove from New Jersey to attend the rally. "We are making a mockery out of this. And we need to stand united, but we are not."

Don't know what makes you think so.

But, you obviously don't read my posts.

So, let us leave it at that.

Yes, a month or so back is when I joined.

Nothing wrong with being new, I hope.

Just so you all know, Hundreds are not the same as Thousands.

An important point to make, since even though most journalists got this far in math, they were never able to master the concept.

It isn't just a matter of numbers..
It's a matter of supporting our Troops..
A few weeks ago, it was me and one other Maine Freeper against 300 Moonbats.
We were unafraid and undaunted!
Funny how as they were leaving,
they still felt the need to walk past us and say "We support the Troops but not the war."
You can pretty much guess my response.
If ANY Troops saw us out there, it was all worthwhile.
Ms.B

Are you interrogating me?

Reading my many posts would educate you on my views.

To simply put, I am for more democracy and no thugs/communists/socialists/fascists.

I would still like for you to tell us if you think the Iraqi people and the US Government or the hold outs from the Saddam regime and world terrorism should win this war. These are the two sides fighting, if you are going to actively get involved by posting your views or actually fighting in the war, these are your only two choices. One side will loose and the other will win. Maybe not completely, but there will be a victor out of this. Which side would you like it to be?

And once you get into the habit, it just feels good, doesn't it?

You are so right! I refuse to let these idiot protesters go unanswered like they did during Viet Nam. Never again!

Thank you for the commonsense.

I have been reading FreeRepublic for about a year. Decided to join the group to contribute month or two ago.

Will never leave!

I've always wondered--are Tucker Carlson and Margaret Carlson the same person? Has anyone ever seen them both in a room at the same time?

I was making fun of CNN's stupidity in putting that in the headline, which confirms that CNN thinks the readers are STUPID.

Thank you so much for your comments, very well said. I'm a member of the DC Chapter, and all positive comments are very uplifting.

Yes, a low turnout is disappointing. I wasn't a demonstrator-type either, but as I tell my 9-year-old, "If you want to be good at something, you have to practice." We do have lots of opportunities to practice in this area, but even if you don't live here, you always meet very nice people at the FReep who are willing to help you get started. Excitement is VERY contagious!

My husband (who has been a FReeper much longer than I have) says that 5,000 Freepers were on the mall in '98, why can't we do that again?

We need a Cindy Sheehan like personality that will draw the news media. Can't be a copy of Sheehan, has to be completely different but someone who they will flock to to have our message told.

We need to think of something that totes up the numbers on our side.

One suggestion - expose the truth.
Signs that read "the anti-war crowd are paid and bused in." Gee, sounds like we are talking about an election here! It will explain their large number as opposed to the 'legitimate' grass root endeavor.

And, where in your brainy head did you get the idea that I supported terrorists?

We of course appreciate your service and honor it.

But, may be you should calm down and stop reacting in a knee jerk manner.

It's an initiation process. Your advice is good. Shoot right back with both barrels, and give as good as you got.
Show that you are made of FReeper stuff!

Good idea. A respectable version of Cindy Sheehan, on our side.
