DELAY [Mark R. Levin] Here's my first take on this indictment (I've only read the indictment and nothing more for now): The indictment is three pages in length. Other than a statement that "one or more" of 3 individuals, including Tom DeLay, entered into an illegal conspiracy, I can't find a single sentence tying Tom DeLay to a crime. That is, there's not a single sentence tying DeLay to the contribution. The indictment describes the alleged conduct of two other individuals, but nothing about DeLay. You would think if Ronnie Earle had even a thin reed of testimony linking DeLay to the contribution, it would have been noted in the indictment to justify the grand jury's action. Moreover, not only is there no information about DeLay committing acts in furtherance of a conspiracy, there's no information about DeLay entering into a conspiracy. I honestly believe that unless there's more, this is an egregious abuse of prosecutorial power. It's a disgrace. I understand that not everything has to be contained in an indictment, but how about something! Posted at 01:58 PM
So you're willing to use bogus, trumped up charges from Democrat political hack to get rid of a Republican simply because you don't agree with them. Only a fool would be going along with Ronnie Earl and his crap.
What you are missing is that the GOP has a rule that the leaders must step down upon indictment. The DumocRats don't have that rule. I guess they have to step down if they receive lethal injection.(But they still get to vote in a lot of states)
Seeing how you're not from Texas, you might now realize what is happening. Travis County DA Ronnie Earl is a known, Democrat political hack. He makes his reputation indicting Republicans and Democrats who oppose him on bogus, trumped up charges. Travis County is the most liberal county in all of Texas. They voted for Kerry in overwhelming numbers. Any grand jury in Travis County (and Earl had to try SIX times to get one that would go along with him) is going to anti-Republican in the extreme.
How long will it be before a judge will be looking at the case and maybe toss out?
Thanks. I didn't know all that. I knew Earle was a hack.
I used to think that all Texan's had spine, but after watching Delay stumble around Congress, one would think that the Dems, not the Pubs control the House.
Since the two of you are obviously in love with this pork loving weanie from Texas, here you go:

Delay's quote is enough to make me choke on a hot dog:
"House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said yesterday that Republicans have done so well in cutting spending that he declared an "ongoing victory," and said there is simply no fat left to cut in the federal budget.
Mr. DeLay was defending Republicans' choice to borrow money and add to this year's expected $331 billion deficit to pay for Hurricane Katrina relief. Some Republicans have said Congress should make cuts in other areas, but Mr. DeLay said that doesn't seem possible.
"My answer to those that want to offset the spending is sure, bring me the offsets, I'll be glad to do it. But nobody has been able to come up with any yet," the Texas Republican told reporters at his weekly briefing.
Asked if that meant the government was running at peak efficiency, Mr. DeLay said, "Yes, after 11 years of Republican majority we've pared it down pretty good.""
My bets remain on DeLay.
Do you have a link so I can show my moonbat dad?
I'm not a fan of DeLay, but the Rats are being slimy as usual. He's not in my district, so it really doesn't matter what I think about the guy.
The rats are upset because the GOP is in the majority in Texas, but the way the districts are set up (over 150 years of carpet baggers) it has left the RATs in control of the courts. The redistricting will end their last hold on any type of power in Texas.
I hope you haven't deceived yourself into thinking you're either a Republican or a conservative.
If it turns out that this indictment was created strictly to cause DeLay to leave his leadership post -- and for no other reason -- then one of two things should occur:
EITHER:
1) The prosecutor must be arrested and indicted for abuse of government power, or
2) Republicans must similarly abuse the system.
There are about 500 counties "said to be the third most Republican county in the nation." Until a couple of years ago Taylor Co. was represented by Democrat Charles Stenholm.
See my #153.
The republican higher ups wanted Lott out. Lott gave them the opportunity and they took it.
No, I hope Delay beats the charges and then takes the janitor's job. Since the POTUS does not have a line item veto, there are only two people in Congress who can stop the waste of billions and billions of Federal dollars on pork (oops, I mean "member initiatives"): One is Delay, the other is Frist. Both are miserable failures. If our so-called Republican leaders in Congress continue to ignore illegal immigration and runaway Federal spending, then we will be the minority party after the next congressional election.
Yes, you have your own agenda against Delay.
No one cares.
This thread isn't about fiscal restraint. I'm sure you'll find one out there that is.
This is about the Dems trying to indict Republicans, specifically Delay in this instance, on the flimsiest of pretexts, an abuse of power, and I'll have none of it.
Just as I have no use for anyone claiming to represent conservatisism yet taking the opportunity to jump on Delay's back, in so doing serving the interests of Earle, Pelosi, Reid and the Clinton's.
I'm not in his district either, but he's spending my hard earned money in his district so that makes him my problem.
