NRA surveys are not made public so they are pretty useless to anyone but NRA staff.

NRA ratings are pretty whimsical -last years A can becomes this years C and vice versa without any major change in position. Ask the Republican Atty General candidate why he is not being endorsed and the Dem is. VCDL's PAC declined to endorse either candidate.

Kilgore has been endorsed by Fairfax Chamber of Commerce. He was also kissing up to Mark Fisher at The Washinton Post - sures seems like Kilgore is going for teh moderate vote.

Well DUH!

The candidate that gets the swing/moderate voters and his base wins this thing. That's Politics 101.

I heard the same stuff about Early vs. Warner. Warner ended up being great for gunowners.

I haven't decided who I am going to vote for but if I do support Kilgore it will be grudgingly. I have yard signs up for my Republcian Delegate canididate who did answer the VCDL surevey & proudly cites his endorsement by the VCDL PAC in Fairfax County.

It is too bad Kilgore hired weenies for his campaign staff. Picking good people is part of leadership - he has failed this test.

I've never voted for a democrat in my entire life and I don't intend to start now. Like I said before if Kilgore doesn't answer the VCDL survey.....he won't be getting my vote, period. In fact.....I'll mention that to many others I'll see at the gun show tommorrow.

If we elect Kaine, you can bet you'll see him in an ad with Sarah Brady. The media will tout, "Gun control no longer the 3rd rail for Democrats", and they'll be emoldened.

I'm not debating this anymore 'cause I'm obviously not going to change your mind. But if Kaine wins, talk to me in a couple of years.

I'll be waiting.

Kaine is not running on a anti-gun platform so it hardly matters.

Mark Warner didn't run on a pro-tax platform either.

It won't matter. He had a notorous anti-gun past. They will get mileage out of this.

VCDL is throwing a boomerang. Be prepared to catch it.

If Kaine wins it will be because Kilgore beat himself by running a poor campaign.

FWIW Kaine was willing to answer the VCDL survey. That to me is a positive sign.

If Kaine wins, meet me here in two years and tell me you still feel the same way.

I can wait.

Or he figured that it couldn't hurt.

If I was a betting man, I'd wager that there is one (or more) agents provocateur among us.

This whole VCDL/NRA pissing contest reeks of it.

Personally, I suspect Kilgore has some reason for not answering the VCDL survey. It may be a good reason. It may be a bad one.

But there is no doubting who will be the best guy for conservatives on the RKBA issue (or any other issue for that matter).

Save the pissing contest for another day...

Yup...Warner did raise taxes didn't he - I found the increased fees on mortgages a real middleclass tax hike with all the folks who bought houses or refinanced paying more. The tax issue is a black mark against him.

His gun record was great tho - he even signed a bill that repealed Alexandria's gun ban - his record on gun rights is perfect.

Yup...and he lied about it didn't he? Said it in a debate and even in a commercial.

Probably even filled out a survey.

That's been my point all along.

No doubt it is a pissing contest.

There are many professional political types & lobbyists who would prefer if VCDL went away. These types tell campaigns to not answer the surveys. The failure to answer the survey was a bad sign, However the real heartache got going by Kilgore staff attacking Phil Van CLeave. Not a cool move and Kilgore's seeming endorsement of these tactics turns me off. Kilgore could have ended the "pissing contest" by saying the remark was uncalled for but he choose to let it stand. That is a reflection on his leadership.

He could still answer the survey and apoligize for his staff members comments - better late then never.

I am not so sure - if Kilgore pushes away VCDL during campaign why would he work with VCDL to pass gun bills?

The NRA isn't pushing any good gun bills - they are purely defensive. Occasionally they get a gun makers protection bill passed but that is about it.

The Republicans will put pro-gun bills on Kaines desk - I doubt that Kilgore's advisors will allow bills to ever get to his desk as he is following the Gilmore model.
