"Justice Scalia is passionate about music, especially opera, and plays piano and sings tenor. He plays poker and an aggressive game of tennis. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting and fishing."
Is anyone ever described as an avid indoorsman? Did his mom always tell him as a kid to go outside and play avid- like shoot out all the car windows with pellet gun? And why no adjective for how he plays poker? If he plays an aggressive game of poker, does that imply he's a little too Sin City, wearing the shades and all? An aggressive game of tennis means he can beat the olds farts incapacitated by arthritis. No one else. If you believe in meritocracy like the conservative commentators, it's a little late for Scalia to learn what drum majors learned in high school.

they also ran shows stating that he was Jewish, born in a ghetto in Italy and also, that since he knew the seas so well, he may have been Portuguese.

Here's a favorite stumper that I use: how many perople have specific federal holidays in the U.S. named for them? Obviously, Columbus, regardless of what you think of him, is one of them.
And can you name them?
Suprisingly, (perhaps not, really) I usually get one or two wrong guesses right off the bat.

I'm surprised the PC elites still allow a Columbus Day parade.
I am confused though. NYC news last night showed a clip of Mayor Bloomberg marching in what they said was the city's Columbus Day parade on *Saturday.* Was that an error? I assume this was somewhere else in the city, and not THE big parade.

Buzzz. You have the first two, but Washington's birthday has been renamed "President's Day" (rolling Washington and Lincoln into one, I think -- we still get Lincoln in New York. But we get specifically Lincoln and Presidents Days).
So the only American with an all-American holiday is Martin Luther King.

2005 Federal Holidays
Federal law (5 U.S.C. 6103) establishes the following public holidays for Federal employees. Please note that most Federal employees work on a Monday through Friday schedule. For these employees, when a holiday falls on a nonworkday -- Saturday or Sunday -- the holiday usually is observed on Monday (if the holiday falls on Sunday) or Friday (if the holiday falls on Saturday). |

* January 1, 2005 (the legal public holiday for New Years Day) falls on a Saturday. For most Federal employees, Friday, December 31, 2004, will be treated as a holiday for pay and leave purposes. It does not matter that December 31, 2004 is in the prior calendar year. (See 5 U.S.C. 6103(b).)
Inauguration Day, January 20, 2005, falls on a Thursday. An employee who works in the District of Columbia, Montgomery or Prince George's Counties in Maryland, Arlington or Fairfax Counties in Virginia, or the cities of Alexandria or Falls Church in Virginia, and who is regularly scheduled to perform non-overtime work on Inauguration Day, is entitled to a holiday. There is no in-lieu-of holiday for employees who are not regularly scheduled to work on Inauguration Day.
This holiday is designated as "Washington's Birthday" in section 6103(a) of title 5 of the United States Code, which is the law that specifies holidays for Federal employees. Though other institutions such as state and local governments and private businesses may use other names, it is our policy to always refer to holidays by the names designated in the law.
** December 25, 2005, ( the legal public holiday for Christmas Day) falls on a Sunday. For most Federal employees, Monday, December 26, will be treated as a holiday for pay and leave purposes. (See Executive Order 11582 of February 11, 1971.)
