The Man Who Predicted 9/11 [History Channel]
History Channel ^ | 11/10/2005 | NA

Posted on 11/11/2005 12:27:36 PM PST by Lloyd227

"In 2001, Rick Rescorla was the 62-year-old head of security at the Morgan Stanley Bank. The bank's offices were situated high up in the South Tower at the World Trade Center. Rescorla was convinced that Osama Bin Laden would use jet planes to try and destroy the World Trade Center.

Long before September 11th, he developed an evacuation plan for the bank. The plan and its preparation were hugely unpopular with the Morgan Stanley staff, many of whom thought Rescorla was mad. Ultimately, however, the plan saved 3,000 lives. It was put into effect after the first jet hit the North Tower--even though WTC managers were instructing everyone to stay in the buildings. When the second jet hit the South Tower, Rescorla averted panic and organized a rapid evacuation. Rescorla went back inside to help the injured and trapped get out. He was still inside when the building collapsed and his body was never found."

Did anyone else either see this History Channel documentary about Rick Rescorla or read/heard about the man from any other sources?

And no, I'm not promoting the History Channel, just trying to promote awareness in a man deserving of having people tell his story.

Sad that there are so few men like Mr. Rescorla left in the world, and where we can, we should all recognize where they have passed.

I watched it last night. It was really incredible. I'd recommend it without hesitation. At first, I didn't understand the claims of him having saved thousands of people, but that's exactly what he did. What an amazing American.

God bless Rick Rescorla - www.RickRescorla.com

HERO

A little clutch of veterans share a table in a bar,

There's a guy off in the corner coaxing tunes from his guitar.

They watch the Hudson River as it rolls towards the bend

And they talk of Rick Rescorla as a comrade and a friend.

While out across the water, many ocean-miles away

Within a Cornish Tavern by a sandy Cornish Bay,

Another group are gathered, reminiscing as a clan,

And their thoughts are all of Tammy, from the schoolboy to the man.

And every head among them has a picture in its mind

Which time and place and memory have captured and consigned,

Now the pictures weld together until only one remains,

Of a sturdy, selfless hero guiding others from the flames.

It's a picture which unites them in their glory and their grief,

More eloquent than eulogies, confirming their belief

That theirs had been a privilege to saunter at his side

And in the way he'd lived his life had Rick Rescorla died.

The veterans recalled him in the killing fields of war

As a man whose potent presence would inspire and reassure,

Just one among his brothers when the skies began to fall,

Yet one whom they regarded as a father to them all.

And now their eyes will moisten at the mention of his name

And the sources and the substance of the legend he became,

When mayhem drove the best of men to crave their mother's love,

He'd stand and croon an anthem to the gory gods above.

And on that evil morning, so deceptively serene,

Amid another carnage, just as callous and obscene

Again he took the mantle of the sainted and the strong

To save the lives of others with a blessing and a song.

Between the Hudson River and the sandy shores of Hayle,

Though eyes encompass differences of latitude and scale,

All hands are linked together in the testament they bear,

They are but Rick Rescorla’s friends, united by a prayer.

I watched this a few months ago and it was excellent. Mr. Rescorla was a good soldier and a very brave man.

I predicted September 11 too. Today I am predicting November 12, 2005. And on Sunday I'll predict November 14, 2005. I predict Thanksgiving sometime later in the month too. And so on. I'm good at this kind of stuff. <\sarcasm>

[...Sad that there are so few men like Mr. Rescorla left in the world,...]

Thank you for the story about Mr. Rescorla. I must, however, take issue and say that this day, Veterans Day, we honor thousands of men like Mr. Rescorla. :)

I'm guessing it's the same show they've aired several times. Rick was indeed a hero.

Courageous... with a sixth-sense and the resolve to apply it. A great American.

It was on a month or two ago, this is a rebroadcast but well worth a look.

It's mostly comments from those who knew him, yet I would have liked more from Rescorla himself

He did spend some time being interviewed before the camera prior to his passing on 9/11.

You may want to change your tag line, I suggest:
Al-Zawahiri, your time has run out!

It is quite amazing. I wonder, did they say anything about what made him think that Bin Laden will attack with airplanes?

What a terrible loss that he lost his life.

As I read this thread, your post stands out as one of the most shallow here. Perhaps you should read some of the other posts, or better yet, view the show.
