The Man Who Predicted 9/11 [History Channel]
History Channel ^ | 11/10/2005 | NA

Posted on 11/11/2005 12:27:36 PM PST by Lloyd227

"In 2001, Rick Rescorla was the 62-year-old head of security at the Morgan Stanley Bank. The bank's offices were situated high up in the South Tower at the World Trade Center. Rescorla was convinced that Osama Bin Laden would use jet planes to try and destroy the World Trade Center.

Long before September 11th, he developed an evacuation plan for the bank. The plan and its preparation were hugely unpopular with the Morgan Stanley staff, many of whom thought Rescorla was mad. Ultimately, however, the plan saved 3,000 lives. It was put into effect after the first jet hit the North Tower--even though WTC managers were instructing everyone to stay in the buildings. When the second jet hit the South Tower, Rescorla averted panic and organized a rapid evacuation. Rescorla went back inside to help the injured and trapped get out. He was still inside when the building collapsed and his body was never found."

"I wonder, did they say anything about what made him think that Bin Laden will attack with airplanes?"

I caught only part of the show, but had once stayed up nearly all night reading material written by others about Mr. Rescorla.

And yes, he had reasons. Take some time and read some of the links.

I promise, it's time well spent.

"...I caught only part of the show,..."

And yes, I have ordered the DVD from the History Channel. I have four sons, 15 to 22 and a review of Mr. Rescorla's life is a required topic in my home now.

Before you make such comments demonstrating your uninformed status, you should have read the post and some of the links.

This is NOT a guy claiming after the fact, that he predicted it, it's someone who made well documented plans to evacuate people, based on that prediction and there is a great deal of evidence to back it up. He didn't predict the date, but he made an assessment, that an air attack is feasible and likely. He was an intelligence buff, so maybe he read about the Boinca (sp?) plan back in 1995 and he paid attention to it, unlike everyone else, who dismissed it.

Perhaps you'd like to explore the links a bit more. From "HOW RICK RESCORLA SAVED 2700 LIVES ON 9-11":

How does a man come to possess this ability to so accurately predict future events? He had no crystal ball. He was not clairvoyant. He was a professional in the arts of intelligence, security, and counter-guerrilla warfare. He had spent his entire life centered on these things. Over a lifetime, Rescorla accumulated knowledge and experience that allowed him to know the how, when, why, and where his enemy would strike.

(...)

See? No horoscope -- no crystal ball -- no tarot cards -- just plain and simple intelligence and professional expertise and logical projection, i.e., "If you want to know what a terrorist is likely to do, just ask a terrorist -- or one whose mind works like that of a terrorist.”

I hope you'll read the rest. A fascinating guy, a real hero. It has nothing to do with Nostradamus or Miss Cleo.

I haven't seen it yet, but it's been recorded. We'll probably watch it this weekend.

There were other people who also thought this.
I remember seeing a book published in the '80's that
contained an illustration showing a plane hitting the WTC
with the word "TERRORISM" as the sole caption.
I wish I could find what I did with it.

Maybe when Aloha Ronnie gets to the thread, he will educate you a bit. I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Aloha Ronnie, jdm might need a bit more background On Rick. Then he will realize what a great man we lost that day.

I think it's "Bojinka" although sometimes it's spelled "Bojinko." Nevertheless, he put it all together as our own country's leadership could have and should have.

I will watch "We Were Soldiers" in honor of the 40th anniversary. With plenty of Kleenex.

40 years? My God, 1965 seems like just yesterday.

"You should be able to strip a man naked and throw him out with nothing on him," he told Hill. "By the end of the day, the man should be clothed and fed. By the end of the week, he should own a horse. And by the end of a year he should own a business and have money in the bank".

Thanks for the link!

Actually, there was one warning--the first Trade Center bombing. And there was some published talk that the Arabs would try again. They were clearly obsessed by the Twin Towers as a symbol of what they hated about America.

I don't know if that was the basis for his planning. He still deserves major credit for taking action, doing his job, and risking unpopularity on what must have seemed a long shot.
