FRiends,

I just found out that a friend of mine from Switzerland is going to take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America next month.

To properly welcome him into our great Republic, I would like to send him a link to this thread with a bunch of Freepers welcoming him to America.

BTW, his name is Ralf (and I spelled that right,)

A hearty and sincere welcome, Ralf. We always can use another good citizen. But a friendly forewarning to you: The US does not stay neutral.[humor]

Congratulations Ralf. You picked a great country. I am sure you understand that the greatness of the United States comes from their freedoms. The overwhelming factor that has built this country from what it was 230 years ago to what it is today has been limited government interference in our lives, our property and our markets.

There are those who were born in this country who daily put all their energies into demolishing the principles that have built this great nation, and the rate at which they are succeeding frightens me.

Once you become a citizen, I hope you will do your duty as a citizen and spend at least a little time fighting to maintain our freedoms by informing others and voting for candidates who believe in reducing the size and scope of the federal government. If we don't turn this nanny state around, then we all might as well be living in France.

And nobody wants to do that, even the Muslims that chose to move there.

Starts with a flash movie we made

You did a great job! I especially liked the b/w drawing of the men on the ship pointing to a red-white-and-blue Old Glory.

Another soul from the rest of the world is always welcome here, Ralf, as long as you regard yourself as "American" and not "Swiss-American" you are going to be welcomed by every American you meet.

Of course, if you want to be "Swiss-American" then...it is your freedom to choose to be so! (and you will probably STILL be welcomed by every American you meet!)

WELCOME TO AMERICA!

Ralf,
Welcome to the greatest opportunity of your life. Add more good than you take and make our country a better place. Never forget where you came from, but remember that you can change where you are going. It's good to be an American.
Regards, Dana

What a wonderful day for you, Ralf. It's a very big Happy Birthday...you'll be reborn...an American. There's nothing like it in the whole world. Indescribable. Like a box of fireworks going off inside you. The possibilities...you can be anything, do anything. The only limits are those you set for yourself. Welcome home!

Congratulations, Ralf! Once you've taken the oath, you'll be a full member of what Abraham Lincoln called "the last, best hope of mankind."
