Poll results here. This from the Media Research Center analysis:
The news media elite are to the left of the public in several policy areas related to the war on terrorism, a poll "of opinion leaders and the general public conducted by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press in collaboration with the Council on Foreign Relations," found. While 56 percent of the public believes "efforts to establish a stable democracy" in Iraq will succeed, 63 percent of the news media elite think it will fail; a plurality of 48 percent of the public think going to war in Iraq was correct, but 71 percent of the news media elite consider it a bad decision; the public is split evenly at 44 percent on whether the Iraq war has helped or hurt the war on terrorism, but an overwhelming 68 percent of the news media elite say it has hurt; and 46 percent of the public believe torture of terrorist suspects is often or sometimes "justified," 78 percent of the news media elite contend it is "rarely" or "never" justified. Plus, news media elite approval of Bush's job performance at a lowly 21 percent is half that of the public's.

AND reality.
As long as their preconception doesn't effect their objective reporting, I don't think it's any big deal.
And we needed a poll to tell us this. I thought it was obvious.
Apparently, because they get to 'publish' the media (in whateveryoulike form). Regardless, I wonder the same thing you do.
These jerks are hoping and praying that we lose in Iraq, simply to destroy the The Bush Man and regain power in the White House. Their problem is we are on the verge of victory and this Iraq vote in December will get us a step closer. By winning in Iraq we will not only insure liberty & freedom there but devastate the DemocRAT Party.
Well I thought that was a given by saying they were out of touch with society.... :)
And MSM wonders? Try buying a vowel on occasion.
These,no doubt,are the same "media elites" who,in 1992,went
89% for The Most Ethical President In History while the general public went 43% in his favor.
During the war, before the occupation, this bias was blatant:
Once the occupation started it continued.
Q.E.D.
Holy waste of polling time.
They needed a poll to figure this out?
Who in the heck ever gave the media the name media elites? They are news people sitting behind a desk giving US the news. That's all. Now we don't even need them anymore. Elites? My foot theya re elites. They are IDIOTES. :)
if it wasnt for the US military, there would be no "media elite"
Because it is assumed they have so little actual work to do that they have enough time to sit around and decide what is best for us.
It sounds like they are doing their best to turn this into a self-fulfilling prophesy.
Another big shuffle of deck chairs aboard the M.S.M. Titanic.
Liberals are by definition cowards, IMO.
The results of this poll are predictable.
Media biased to the left?? Say it Ain't so...

On the Other Hand ... (William F. Buckley Jr. on Iraq
snip
....note that many people assured me that a constitution would never be ratified in Iraq. They were, by and large, the same people who assured me that were the U.S. to invade Iraq, the Arab street would erupt in a world jihad.
"The supposedly impossible thing in fact happened, and the dead certainty failed to take place. Even more curious is how little difference that has made in the --- is the word appropriate? --- debate. Reality --- what actually happened or seemed to happen --- somehow hasn't counted for much when it comes to informing opinion on Iraq. Six months from the election takes us to 15 June. It would be interesting to step back and specify some milestones by which we could judge the campaign: what developments, were they accomplished, would lead us to judge the venture a success? What are some alternative eventualities that would compel us to acknowledge failure?
"We could scribble a few such criteria on a sheet of paper now and seal it in an envelope marked, 'Do not open until June 15, 2006.' Then, on a balmy summer eve, we could have an envelope-opening ceremony and see where things stood. I suspect the backers of Mr. Bush would have something to celebrate."
The "elite media" and the dems keep moving the goalposts..I think this exercise would be interesting..
Damn straight.
I live in a community where many of our military live. Many of them have been to Iraq and Afghanistan. The stories they tell about our successes over there NEVER make it into the leftist media. We are effecting an incredible transformation in these two nations and all the defeatist media can report is the occasional car bomb or suicide attack - as if that is all that is happening over there.
The defeatist media is seditious at best, treasonous at worst. They do all they can to lose the war by undermining morale and subverting the war effort. Nothing they say can be taken at face value. Our people in the Middle East are performing magnificently and deserve praise and recognition for their work. They will never get it from the defeatist media or the dimrat party.
