Boy Says He Was Attacked Over Pricey Gym Shoes

Group Of Masked Students Jumps High-Schooler, Teen Claims

POSTED: 8:38 pm EST December 1, 2005

A 16-year-old student said he was assaulted at a Detroit school because of his shoes, and his mother fears for his safety.

The Murray Wright High School tenth-grader said he spent a week's earnings from his part-time job to buy a pair of Carmelo Anthony Air Jordan tennis shoes. The shoes cost more than $100.

He said a group of masked students jumped him inside school and tried to get the shoes, but he was able to run away.

His mother is angry and worried and believes the school should make students wear uniforms.

"I'm not going to let my son wear those shoes because he could get killed over a pair of shoes," she said. Local 4 concealed the woman's identity to protect her son because he fears the attackers.

School administrators said they have a suspect who will likely be disciplined and possibly expelled.

I suppose it never occurred to these other "yutes" that they could acquire their own Air Jordans the same way.

Some of my guys will come to work in $85 to $150 dollar sneakers....untied. They are being told to tie those shoes or risk a writeup. I am amazed that theft can become a "fad". Apparently, if your shoes are untied it means you have expensive shoes and that you are willing to give them up in order to save your life.

Now that's not the way the liberals have been telling those "yutes"..
It's OK to take from thems that works and give it to those that don't want to. Just because the kid WORKED to get those shoes doesn't mean anything. He should SHARE with those others too lazy to work.

More likely is that Jessie & Rev. Al will show up to whine that the perp really is a good kid and it's his rights that are being violated.

An inner city application of the Japanese proverb, "The nail that sticks up gets hammered down."
