According to the newspaper, the contract on the matter has already been signed. Tor M-1 air defense system

Tor is a solely defensive weapon, which intercepts cruise missiles. Journalists contacted the management of the Kupol (Dome) enterprise, which manufactures Tor anti-missile systems, although they failed to obtain a confirmation of the above-mentioned transaction.

I'd says this means we should have no qualms about arming Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine (if they're buying), Belorussia (after the revolution sweeps away the pro-Putin POS that's in charge there), and any other border country that has an argument with Russia. And the stuff we sell will actually work.

Now we can defend against the infidels, allah willing!

We can intercept the satanic missiles of the great satan and destroy them utterly without trace. !

Humdulilah! What was that? What does he mean, one if by land and two if by air?

Humdulilah, what do they mean when they say that the quarterback is not going for the air game?

These infidels are so stupid! Their silly uncivilized games!

What do you mean Achmed? You saw a troop of infidel Marines go by riding camels and ATV's from Iraq? Impossible! What, you mean they have not used their cruise missiles after we had developed the means to pluck them from the beard of the Great Satan!

Oh the infidels are so stupid.

Bush has that age-old alcoholic's urge to please everyone all the time. That's why he hasn't vetoed a single spending bill.....

and why he seems so star-struck with Democrats.

I'm afraid Bush will never see the Democrats as he sees Al Quaeda.

We know that Democrats are more dangerous.

Very unfortunate.... and true.

Putin is a hardline communist and hates America. He is also trying to rebuild the USSR.

Who knows what is current in our ECM inventory, or what the IAF folks have at hand?

Anyone who actually knows, also knows to STFU.

"The Gore-Chernomyrdin protocol was first disclosed publicly in 2000. It was the result of secret talks between then Vice President Al Gore and Russia's then-Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin. After the revelations in 2000, the State Department acknowledged Gore assured Russia that, under the provisions of the agreement, the U.S. would not sanction the Kremlin for Russian arm sales to Iran – through 1999."

"Critics of the agreement pointed out it was in violation of the spirit, if not the letter, of the Iran-Iraq Non-proliferation Act, sponsored by then Sen. Gore, that required the imposition of sanctions against countries that made destabilizing arms sales to either Iran or Iraq."

"Gore's office was not available for comment."

Israel knows how to handle such matters. The words "never again" will ring more and more loudly in the ears of the population (and teir leaders) as those 9th Century knuckledraggers move toward their own national Armageddon.

Because a first strike would isolate them internationally so badly, and because the US is their only friend and given US politics it is not at all a given that even it would stand by them, I had doubts about Israel taking them on even with all of the tough talk about not allowing Iran to get nukes. However, when Iran said Israel should be wiped off the map, that is basically a declaration of war. It puts Israel in a better position diplomatically, although they will really take a beating internationally if they take out the nukes, and it'll be more than just words, for example, disinvestment - and look what that did to South Africa. However, I think that statement will make a difference and will come back to haunt the Ayatollahs.

Is the Tor M-1 anti-missile system the same one the Russians sold Saddam?

Russia is ancient country with greatest territory (1/6 of world dry land) and 45% of world mineral resources.
State power was captured (1917) by communist who oppress the Russians. Now grandsons and grand-grandsons of first communists rule in Russia but officially they all name self as "democrats" though everybody knows they as former communists. Communist party was most criminal in history of humanity. The Russian lost tens millions human lives since 1917. I suppose all humanity should help to the Russian people in a struggle against communist regime and the United States could be at the head. Instead of this, many thousands Soviet-American co-ownership banks, enterprises had been established and thousands Americans helped to criminal communists to rob the Russians. Final aim to get a bunch of little "independent" states instead the "great Russia".

Putin had been elected as Yeltsin's successor. Shady commies grabbing Russia wished to continue such pleasant period their enrichment. Putin justifyed their hopes. The Russian people still oppressed, the "New Russians" ("new rich men", former commies/comsomolets, criminal gangster and the same swindlers) still become rich. Brainwashing machine (Russian TV) praise Putin everywhere though intelligent people despise Mr.President utterly and giving scornful nicknames (for instance "Kremlin gopher").

Iran begged of Kremlin to sell them S300-PMU (six missile with range 300km and altitude 25km., bring down all flying up to ballistic missiles) system which China, India, USA(1) has yet.
But Putin sell to Iran most simple anti-aircraft system "Tor-1" of "divisional level" (it can launch two missile only with range 25km and altitude 6km.)

Nuclear materials and missiles to Iran. Thousands of automatic weapons to Hugo Chavez. These are, indeed, virtual declarations of war against the U.S.

That idiot clinton did much the same to provoke Russia in the war against Yugoslavia, which we fought on the wrong side, but clinton is behind us. Bush has done nothing to provoke this sort of behavior. If anything, he has tried to be Putin's best friend. It's time that Bush started to deal with it.

It's irrelevant that B-2 bombers couldn't be hit by these missiles. Any attack on Iran's nuclear infrastructure is going to have to be done by Israel, and with the sites all hardened, it won't be easy. It may well require low-flying planes and cruise missiles, or even commando raids. Having to confront a defensive missile shield is not helpful. In fact, this may shorten the deadline within which Israel has to work, assuming that Sharon really means what he says, which unfortunately I doubt after his behavior this past year or two.
