Pirro Won't Give Up Senate Bid (Well, at Least Not 'Right Now')
NY Times ^ | December 3, 2005 | PATRICK D. HEALY

Posted on 12/04/2005 8:02:12 PM PST by neverdem

As if the sun were finally shining upon her, Jeanine F. Pirro strode coatless onto a chilly Manhattan sidewalk yesterday and declared to reporters that her campaign to unseat Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton was "going extremely well," and she was in it to win it.

As if, only minutes earlier, Gov. George E. Pataki had not talked to her about withdrawing from the race, which he had.

Michael Long, the head of the state Conservative Party and an ally of Ms. Pirro's in some past campaigns, said yesterday that her Senate candidacy was in a "meltdown" and indicated that his party would only seriously consider supporting her for attorney general. As if she had the same $14 million in the bank as her rival, Mrs. Clinton, which she does not.

As if her political problems over the last five months had been forgotten, which they have not.

That conflict burst into the open this week over the troubled candidacy of Ms. Pirro, who is an object of interest in New York and Washington because she has been hailed for years as a future leader of the party, a future Pataki or D'Amato.

--WHY?--

The party chairman, Stephen J. Minarik III, has 62 county leaders to control, not to mention his tongue: he frequently gets into trouble with quips like his remark on NY1 News last month, when he said that one candidate for governor, John Faso, had ideas that seem straight out of "La La Land."

IMHO, there's news for pubbies, statists and RINOS in NY. I won't vote any longer with respect to voting for the lesser of two evils in NY. Clowns who ignore the Bill of Rights to the U.S. Constitution deserve no support. I think Mike Long has a better idea about Pirro.

If she persists in this ridiculous endeavor, her career will be finished. Being Attorney-General isn't exactly a booby prize.

Darn shame, she would have been one of the best looking senators ever!

It always did seem like she was skipping a step.

She is a worthless candidate because she will not go after Hillary as she should.

If you say so... I think the resemblence is creepy. Please note, too, Mizz Pirro's pictures are about as heavily airbrushed as you can get without her looking like a cartoon figure.

She's a Liberal Republican. The only differences between her and the Hildabeast are that Pirro is not a lesbian and is NOT a Clinton political machine.

John Spencer however, also fighting for the Republican nomination for Senate. He is openly Pro-life. He supports the Minutemen. In the Blue state of New York, this is unheard of. He could really hurt Hillary in the race. Not win, but hurt her. Tell her the truth about her openly, you know. Like how she would call everyone who did something wrong a "Jew bastard."

Winning against a Clinton political machine is too difficult a task when the people who vote are a majority left wingers. Hurting her now will almost certainly kill her in the `08 bid.

John Spencer for NY Senate.

I've already been stumping for Spencer in the other threads, so you're preaching to the choir. ;-)

Barbara Boxer has some gray and wrinkes but a nicer nose than Jeanine. Babs look like Jeanine 10 years down the line with a nose job. Of course the REALLY creepy part is that about 80% of their issues are alike, too...

The last thing we need in the People's Republic of New York is another Pataki or D'Amato. RINOs do more damage than RATS in the long term, and the NY Republican Party is exhibit A. The prevailing notion that you have to be liberal to get elected in this state means they either skunk conservatives such as Spencer and Ed Cox in favor of RINOs like Pirro, or worse, they refuse to run anyone if there is no RINO available as they did when Chuckie Cheese Schumer ran virtually unopposed.

You've got it. I initially supported her because I thought she would go after Hillary effectively and be able to do it better than a man. Since she preemptively surendered, she's worthless.

Manhattanite dems are politically very active and loud. In politics, it's the squeaky wheel that is heard.

How do you go after Sir Edmond's namesake, in a town where she is the media darling? With the NY intelligenzia, Pirro can't get out her Rino message.
