[history]
This story was reported on Fox and Friends this morning.
Joshua Sparling just got to Walter Reed last week and received ONE letter from someone writing in a child's printing. Among other things it told him to die. The soldier has the card on the wall of his room. I know FReepers can counter this despicable action with some of our own letters.
Joshua Sparling
Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20307-5001
Update: Since Joshua will undoubtedly be overwhelmed by America's response, please consider sending (instead of or in addition to Joshua) cards to these find troops:
Excerpt from Brian K. at FNC:
If you have the time, please try and include the others I met along with Col. North and Col. Hunt at Walter Reed:
Capt. James Ollinger
Sgt. Zavian Simspon
Specialist Brian Radke
Specialist Jason Braase
Sgt. David Nevins
Sgt. Jose Ramos
Cpl. Todd Bishop
Sgt. Ryan Donnelly
Sgt. Eva Diane Cochran

Thanks for posting this. The info will also be available on the FOX & friends blog today at some point. I hope they put up a copy of that letter. It was a despicable thing to send.

Great. Thanks. We'll see it gets on the Tony Snow Show thread as well. I'd love to find the letter writer and administer a thrashing.

Did you see the front of it> It had all these Christmas stamps. I guess Walter Reed thought it looked innocent enough. It think it was signed Miguel and some other work near it.
I was rushing around the house and missed that part. I was so stunned by the ending DIE, that everything else on the screen seemed to disappear to my sight.

Thank you so much for posting this. I heard about it on Fox and Friends this morning and was sooo angry at this. I am going out at lunch and buying a beautiful Christmas Card for Joshua Sparling! Could you believe that horrible card was the only Christmas card he got? I am sure after this post he'll be swamped with cards from wonderful Freepers!

It looked like a kid wrote it. If an adult put a kid up to do that...The hosts were also wondering if some adult did it, pretending to be a kid. In any case, it was a truly despicable thing to do. But didn't the letter have a return address? I'm wondering if someone shouldn't check that out.

I think it is real.
The letter was sent to Walter Reed. He got it there. I suspect some git who saw in a local newspaper that he was wounded sent the letter.

Brian K. and Col. Hunt visited Walter Reed together over the weekend. Brian said that he was so affected by the letter that he just decided to put it on his wall.

I am pinging you, you need to read this, then decide to ping your own list. I remember sometime last year, when Race Bannon needed our help, everyone was pinging every ping list on FR.
Isn't this one of those situations? Lets flood Walter Reed with cards letters and gifts.

There are two fronts in this war: the obvious combat front against terrorists and their networks, and the more ambiguous front against the hate-filled "blame America first" crowd.
Our troops are fighting the combat front. It's up to us to pick up the slack on the home front.

Here is the list I just received from Coop in a freepmail of wanted items
Here is a partial list of wanted items:
toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap...)
calling cards (to call buddies in Iraq and Afghanistan)
dvds, books, cds
current magazines
disposable cameras
t-shirts, clothes
candy, snacks
cigarettes
anything else you think theyd enjoy
I posted, lets flood Walter Reed. I am sending as many cards as me and my family can sign, and leaving them un-adressed, so they can just be handed out to all the wounded there. Coop is gonna get a care package, and Walter Reed is going to get a large envelope with dozens of cards.

Some adult liberal got his kid to hand-copy a hate letter.
If we must have laws against "hate speech" then now's the time to use those laws. Track down the liberal who had his kid write this and throw the book at him.

Let's get off our butts and DO THIS!! Can I please get a shout out from the peeps who will participate?? Yes, it will cost you 37 cents to mail a letter. And another dollar or so for a card. And little gas money when you go to purchase your card. Don't you think it's worth it???

Three FReepers and I paid for a bunch of cards to be sent that are very easy to personalize and send. You don't even have to leave your computer.
THIS IS A REAL CARD, NOT AN E-CARD. Send me a note: freeper@verizon.net and I'll send instructions how to send one on us.
