Mass. senators calling for Sec. Rumsfeld's resignation

-- If the Bay State senators could hang an ornament on the Pentagon Christmas tree, it would be pink.

A pink slip, that is, for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

Democratic Senators Edward Kennedy and John Kerry called for Rumsfeld's resignation last week, following a speech at John Hopkins University in which Rumsfeld defended the war in Iraq and critiqued the mainstream media's war coverage.

"We've arrived at a strange time in this country where the worst about America and our military seems to so quickly be taken as truth by the press," Rumsfeld said.

As an example, Rumsfeld later pointed to stories revealing a Pentagon program that reportedly paid a contractor to pay Iraqi newspapers to print positive stories about the U.S. effort in Iraq. The stories apparently were written by the contractors and published as news.

"That story has been pounded in the media," Rumsfeld said. "And the problem is the story goes out all over the world, over and over and over again. And we're still trying to find out what the facts are."

The senators, though, seemed more apt to believe the press than Rumsfeld.

"We need a fresh start at the Pentagon for the good of American troops, so brave Americans stop paying the terrible price of this defense secretary's mistakes," Kerry said.

Why doesn't Rummy respond by asking, "Who cares what a French Traitor and a fat, drunken, murdering communist think about anything?"

Wonder if Rummy ever gave any serious thought to asking for those two shining examples of modern liberalism for THEIR resignations. the world would be much better off with them gone as we all know...:-)

We need a fresh start in the Senate. We should start by removing the two Senators from Massachusetts. Terrorists would probably protest the removal of their two biggest cheerleaders.

Does anybody take them seriously any more?

What planet do they live on?

By my baromete, positive stories about the progress in Iraq is good for the military.

This is the best thing that can happen. The few conservative folks in the press should make sure this is front page material, showing how the Demoncrats are only trying to weaken the GWOT through political manipulations. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that one of these two asshats is behind the leaking of the rendition sites in Europe or the actual press releases about the Pentagon buying press time in iraq.

But the more they do this, the more they hurt the chances of taking anything back in 2006, even their own dignity will flee when their losses start mounting.
