President Bush is the best war-time President since Lincoln. He put the paddle to those who think terrorists should have privacy while they are plotting their attacks.

I'm all for eavesdropping. Lets bug the phones of Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Hilliary, and John Kerry.

Hopefully the President now realizes that there are indeed traitors to freedom and they are sitting in our congressional houses, in the CIA, in the Pentagon, the State Department, perhaps even in the West Wing but most importantly - they consist entirely in the Main Stream Media.

No longer can the President treat those in congress with the same consideration that he has. He needs to treat them as rabid dogs waiting to infect all those they contact with a deadly disease, anti-Americanism and especially anti-freedom.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we lose Bin Laden in the late 90s because of a leak that we could eavesdrop on his cell/satellite phone?

I'm glad he responded to this quickly but why just a radio address? The Gipper was so effective when he talked straight to the American people via prime time TV. Why won't Dubya do the same thing? (besides flubbing his lines occasionally)

If it was classified, then we need a special prosecutor to prosecute whoever leaked it to the NYT.

Good for him...The Democrats will get in a hissy fit and will hopefully be ignored. JFsKerry will come out saying that the president should be impeached immediately, before stepping back and realizing that he is a senator, and a move must come from the house of reps, which is controlled by the pubbies. The demonic rats will be forced to step back and realize there's absolutely nothing they can do but holler and yell about it.

Senate supposed to meet today, not clear if they will be dealing with the Patriot Act.

President responded quickly to this and rightfully so.

I responded with a great rant to another post in breaking news but it's gone, poof.

I'll summarize....I'm MAD.

By all means, let's respect the privacy and give them special rights as terrorists. The media is on the side of terrorists. What other wasy can the media aid the terrorists?

The word "admit" implies that this is something that nefarious and illegal.

The proper word, given that the program was legal, is "acknowledge."

The proper title would be, given that the president says the program is legal:

"The president ACKNOWLEDGES Approving LEGAL Eavesdropping Dozens of Times."

I just caught CNN informing terr perps around the world exactly how the NSA electronically spies on them.

The liberals, most democrats & the LMSM are traitors, nothing more, nothing less. It is time for some drum head trials and to start putting certain people against the wall.

Wait a minute here... this sounds like the President is approving ~each one~ on a case by case basis?

Works for me. How can somebody have a problem with that? Presidential authorization is a little bit of a higher standard than a mere judges' authorization.

Bush and his cabinet need to go on the 100% total offensive against the "spying" critics. They need to enlist Coburn and other right-thinking Senators to take to the floor and denounce their traitorous colleagues.

The DemocRATS and their toadies in the MSM are making the war on terror a lot harder than it needs to be. That, my friend, is treason. Remember 09-11-01.

Where is the news in this story? There is nothing illegal about what the president authorized - no one has even seriously questioned its legality. It is, however, treasonous. Interesting that members of congress were informed about this and they kept their mouths shut, until now at least perhaps. But of course the media cares nothing for our security.

I heard a sound bite of Schumer saying how disgraceful it was that the spooks at Ft Meade were spying on Americans.

Isn't he the one who was having his senatorial staff do some spying on some other Americans? And, if they used government computers to do the lookup using govt databases, they could be hit with 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The reason I know that is that a lady who worked for HHS in Kansas City was also "moonlighting" as a prostitute, and she was busted for using the HHS computers to do some research on her clients! She made a plea deal, and got 4 months house arrest and 4 years probation, but her life is ruined. As former military, she's lost her military and federal benefits and pensions. She's now a convicted felon, she's probably going to lose custody of her children, and her house, since she won't be working for quite some time.

I wonder if Chuckie's "elves" are going to be hit as hard?

Mark

I'm shocked, shocked, I tell you. NOT!

What a tempest in a teapot. I'd sure HOPE that he approved some eavesdropping from time to time. Isn't it his job to protect and defend the Constitution (and the people) from all enemies foreign and domestic?

The American people expect me to do everything in my power, under our laws and Constitution, to protect them and their civil liberties and that is exactly what I will continue to do as long as I am president of the United States," Bush said.

Thank you...and may God continue to bless you, Mr. President.
