White Space

Read:
2 Timothy 4:6-8

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. —2 Timothy 4:7

Bible In One Year: 2 Timothy 1-4

cover For nearly 50 years, Ann Landers dispensed advice in a daily column carried by more than 1,200 newspapers worldwide. When she died on June 22, 2002, her daughter Margo Howard wrote a farewell column. She asked the editors to leave a blank space for the last part of the column as a memorial to her mom.

The idea came from a column written years earlier when Ann and her husband divorced after a long marriage. Ann had requested the editors to leave white space at the bottom as a memorial to a once-good marriage "that didn't make it to the finish line."

When somebody writes your last column, how much "blank space" will it include? When you come to life's end, will there be important things left undone? Will that white space bear silent testimony to goals you never reached, good habits (like consistent Bible reading) you never formed, help you never gave, kind things you thought about doing but never did? Will a sizeable empty space say that you intended to develop a deeper relationship with God, but that a close intimacy remained an unfulfilled ideal? Or will others be able to say of you that you "finished the race, [and] kept the faith"? (2 Timothy 4:7).

Let's make sure our white space is small! —Vernon Grounds

Only the truth that in life we have spoken,
Only the seed that on earth we have sown;
These shall pass onward when we are forgotten,
Fruits of the harvest and what we have done. —Bonar

To get the most out of life, make every moment count for Christ.

From the Glenn Beck Show
To the tune of "Holly Jolly Christmas
SING ALONG!

Have a RamaHana KwanzMas!
Its the PC time of year.
Every holiday
Display
Becomes a morbid fear.

Happy RamaHana KwanzMas!
Yeah, we know the name is queer.
Oh, good golly,
Can't offend nobody
On *beep*-mas this year.

Oh no,
The Eskimos
Need a holiday.
We'll get right back to you
When we think up one for gays.

Happy RamaHana KwanzMas!
What a time for winter cheer.
But if you see
A Christmas tree
You'll hear a Christmas jeer.

Screw you
ACLU
For winning a twelve
Million in your lawsuit
Versus Santa and his elves.

Have a RamaHana KwanzMas
And everyone must now adhere.
So by golly
Don't hang up that holly
On *beep*-mas this year!

(Elf voice, "Yeah, and no more sleigh bells, either!")

I read it on the yesterday's thread & was struck by the point of the devotion of the white space at end. what an interesting way to evaluate... I guess the white space could be the reality but it also could be the unfulfilled plans, dreams & aspirations...

thank you Rus..

Hope all at Finest have a good day & keep the message & music of the Christ Child in your heart these next few days.

dont worry about it! I ddin't notice it & for now I will be glad for dansangel to get my correspondance!!!

the music links all worked for me.. thank you. Lovely. I had never heard the Kenny G selection. I heard him live in SMALL concert in late 80s. His bro was a student at Wake Forest & needed $$.. so as he was in town, there was a quick invite out for impromptu concert .. only about 25 of us at 50/head.

played & chatted about 2 hours. . He seemed so young then. I had heard his music & just thought he was much older.

Now I see where I typed GodBlessAmerica instead of GodBlessUSA in the header, doesn't take long to get out of practice. :(

Interesting story about Kenny G, thanks for sharing.

I meant to tell you that the the version of 'Silent Night' that you sent me wouldn't work here after I uploaded it to my server so I had to use another version instead.

Why don't you post that one since it should work on your server?
